If we're not allowed to vent by insulting people who are afk

Then how are we supposed to deal with it? It really fucking sucks to get dropped a league due to successive afks, the least rito can do is let you verbally abuse them. They aren't there to hear it anyway.

Look, if you really need to vent...

Do it verbally. Like, scream at your computer. It comes with two perks:

  1. You aren't wasting time typing, so your reaction speed should be faster during gameplay.

  2. You can't be reported for things you didn't type in chat, after all.

  3. Bonus, since I said two. Yelling is very satisfying in a physical manner, much more than rage typing.

This guy gets it. I'd probably have been arrested long ago for the things I say to my monitor, but as far as Rito knows, I'm a model of good behaviour. Ha, ha, ha...

If you live in barracks, you learn that the consequences for yelling are worse than chat restriction.

Look, just learn some anti-stress techniques then. Silent ways to vent your frustration. Those squishy ball things worked for me in the past, and they might work if you take the time and effort to give it a shot.

If all else fails, and you have to talk shit about the afk, take a humorous rather than angry approach. Make a joke about it and lighten the mood rather than make yourself even more upset.

For instance, try this scenario:

Your midlaner is afk. You: "Knock knock." Person: "Who's there?" You: "Not Zed."

As stupid as that sounds, it's a lot less stupid than insulting someone who isn't even there to read it.

You can't just do "anti-stress" yoga bs. It doesn't work that way.

Making jokes is stupid. No one on your team is laughing and will probably get annoyed at your happiness. Playing with a squishy ball means you are afking.

It would be fine if you could ff quicker, DC earlier if you had an AFK or troll build, but nope.

Yelling in public is embarrassing.

Making jokes is stupid.

No wonder I'm in civil engineering of all university majors, I'm apparently a huge idiot.

There's a reason we call it "Engineering Lite" here. Although, for LoL, I guess I'm Engineering Lyte.

Actually answer the other things. Don't focus on one little thing.

I explained the reasoning; you answer it. Do not try to make it sound worse. You can make jokes in a lighthearted game, but if it is a 4v5, and the score stands 25-6 in their favor, don't try to lighten the mood. Just play quietly.

I never called you stupid? I just said the idea to just make a joke when something goes wrong isn't really helpful. Encouragement would be better.

"No wonder I'm the (insert) of (insert). I have (insert), a PhD Doctrine, and attended (insert). I have (insert)."

Don't think I asked about your life too. Once again, didn't say that YOU were stupid. That's kinda overreacting.

No, hey now you didn't say anything wrong.

I was calling myself stupid because I make a lot of jokes, and I wanted to make a joke about your comment about jokes being stupid. And to make a Lyte pun. And to be self-referencing with my point, because I made a joke instead of getting confrontational about it. Although, judging by your response, that didn't work well (and kind of proves your point as well!).

I'd chalk it up to tact. Some games you'll want to stay quiet, and some games a joke is all you need. Sometimes a 4v5, as odd as this may sound, can be fun depending on your company. I've had teams make jokes with each other, sometimes I bantered with the enemy and they had fun because while they knew they were more likely to win, it didn't mean I had to suffer anymore for it.

The game is still a game, it doesn't always have to be 100% competition. I mean, in ranked yeah you're fucked, but in normals if you got an afk it's okay to take it easy and have some fun. I've had some hilarious games in AfO or whatever the initials are where it was Bard vs Nidalee, and we made it a game of using our tunnels to sneak to the enemy nexus to get executed because it was clear we weren't going to win.

Sometimes, and I'm going to be frank here, you got to let it go and give absolutely zero fucks. The key, and I am admitting that your point is absolutely correct as well so don't get me wrong, is knowing when.

Stop making jokes about jokes about jokes about jokes. About jokes.

Yeah, I don't take jokes well. I can laugh once in a while, but I am not completely light-hearted. Some people are like that. Others will always be positive people trying to brighten the mood. People are different.

4v5s can be fun, but it certainly helps when the match is more fair. It sucks when the opponent spams their dance/taunt while they shove the lane that is afk(assuming the jgler is not the afk). Yeah you can have fun with the enemy. Just don't have TOO much fun.

And by too much fun, I mean don't be the guy who goes to say "dance party at baron" or runs into nexus to practice their football strats.

Yeah ranked games are basically always the games where you don't make jokes in 4v5s. Especially if you are gold or below.

[slayer-pantheon-popcorn] Or just sit back eat popcorn and wait for someone else to rage, its inevitable in every game.

Just suck it up and move on. Yeah it sucks but shit happens. Winning 4v5 is not impossible, if nothing else take it as a learning expirence to try something new. Try staying in a teamfight 2 seconds longer if you are just going to ff anyway. Push the limits of the champion you are playing. Just because you are stuck in a shit situation doesn't mean that you can't learn something.

And your vent will never ABRACADABRA the AFKs to reconnect & help you win the game.
