I have NEVER used third party software yet I received a ban for one? My account password was compromised several months ago so I changed my password and all has been well since then. I've spent hundred of dollars on RP, have been an honest player but still got banned. I'm a 32yearold working father and husband... And play league for fun with fellow middle aged childhood friends... Why and how am I banned for something I don't do? PLEASE resolve this issue.

Unless you ask a simple question and happen to get him as your support specialist who gets embarrassed at contradicting himself and closes the ticket without giving a definitive answer.

Then when you open a new ticket hoping for somebody who understands the question and get him again.

At first I came to confirm why was I even suspended and given two warnings. It turned out because the word "FAP" is sexually explicit, so my immediate thought was "then why 'fuck' is allowed on the Boards in the first place?"

The answer I got was "Sexually explicit content is against Universal Rules." and "'FAP' in any context is considered sexually explicit."

At that point I asked why "fuck" may not be considered "sexually explicit", but "fap" is sexually explicit even if it's a joke or a meme and the answer I got was "This decision was already explained, will not be reversed and the matter is closed."

Made a follow-up case, got the same specialist and the answer was "fap has only one meaning" and "the f word has multiple meanings" with urban dictionary as a source. Countered with wikipedia and the response was "that's not how it works, because those are acronyms".

Ultimately I closed the case myself, because it was pointless to discuss (since my request for a different specialist was utterly ignored).

Although I found it funny that the only time Keyru used the word "fuck" was when copy-pasting a link from urban dictionary. Everywhere else it's "the F word", whereas there was no problem with him/her/xir/them using "fap".

I've received a warning on the boards for making a "fap" joke too, so I see where you are coming from.

To us it doesn't seem bad but I guess Riot doesn't want to expose young teens to such ideas? Personally I agree with you, it doesn't make sense to allow worse words and punish for minor ones. And honestly I think the toxicity in this game is far worse to expose them to than mature humor is.

At this point the question is "Who is the target audience?".

I mean, I don't know how it works like now, but back when I was in elementary school we know "those" things at the age of 10 and for a time we had "sex education" as a normal part of a schedule. And I live in a country where this whole idea never really got much attention.

But well, it's not a new thing where blood and guts and guts and God Hand can fly around and be considered "teen", but a female nipple is the biggest evil known to the humankind and must be labelled "adult only".

Same with swearing. "Fuck is okay because it has many uses." "Fap is not okay because it has sexual connotations."

The hypocrisy is leaking.

PS. I've also had a comment deleted, because it had "hentai" in it, as in "I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going." Unless I misinterpreted again and it was removed, because I used the "why not both" meme. That I will never know.

Aww man and that "seen enough..." joke has been made countless times before! It's a shame Riot or Mods won't tolerate that kind of humor.

I wouldn't think it fair to lay all the blame at one person's feet though, he probably has to follow policies that are complicated or nonsensical.

As for the "won't tolerate" part... Well. Consider one following:

Boards do not have strict rules, only "guidelines" which are up to personal interpretations. Somebody specifically (because as you noticed that phrase appeared countless times in the same exact context and never got removed) got clearly offended by the use of "hentai" and the comment was removed.

This is the result of not having strict rules.

I've been to many different forums in my time with the internet and to date League of Legends' "Boards" remains the only one where I was punished (including removed comments/threads without any other repercussions) more than once.

To be honest I stopped counting after like 20. On this account in the last 5 months alone I've been a subject of 11 different moderation interventions and I've been posting ever since the old forum was shelved in like 2014/15, so you can imagine the total number.

What's the difference? Well, those "other" forums had rules like "No swearing." and there were no "buts" about it.

First offence - redacted post Second and further offences - 1 strike/warning 3 strikes - suspension Multiple (say, 3) suspensions - permanent ban. 1 strike cleared after, for example, 1 month.

Here on the Boards once I got a "final" warning and in the 3 following days had 2 more comments removed and just as many warnings given and in the end I wasn't banned, so what the fuck?

Yes and no.

Yes, because it sets a clear, undeniable standard on punishment. Kind of like the progression of: Warning -> 10 game chat restriction -> 25 game chat restriction -> 2 week ban -> permaban in the game for what you write in the chat and a similar thing for leaving games*.

No, because:

Current "guidelines" are either too damn vague at defining what is "inappropriate" (freaking lolis are considered "NSFW") or mods have too much liberty at deciding what's inappropriate and what's not. I've seen WAY too many times how a certain GIF or a picture or a word is used many times in a similar or exact same context and for some reason one day somebody gets banned over it.
Boards seem to lack of any kind of tracking for those types of things (warnings and the like) which is clear from my "final warning" example - unless it changed in the last ~3 months or so, but of that I'm sceptic.

Side note: I think it was discussed at one point and they were against a "strike" system for the forum.

* - That one is amusing. About a week or so after the Leaverbuster was updated there was a huge problem with EU servers (iirc could be EUNE specifically) and a lot of people were forced out of games. So what happened? Every single one of those players was forced to write the "I agree to not leave games in the future" thing on log-in or else they wouldn't ever be able to play again. We were forced to waste that one time deal, because Riot server dun fucked up.

With intent, there needs to be focus on the appreciation of the artist or the cosplay and not just the physical body."

Moderators have full right to decide where "appreciation of art" turns into "objectification".

Of course there's a great and recent example of mods not caring about "objectification". (Not that I give a shit about the concept itself, just pointing out the hypocrisy.)

This actually reminds me of how the first version of the Chat Restriction system worked. The day it rolled out I were basically restricted for like 16 months straight, until something in the system "clicked" and it stopped. Ever since that point I wasn't restricted once and I'm 120% positive I have NOT changed my in-game behaviour in any way.

Since 2014 I had only one positive experience with NA Boards' moderation and that was reinstating a thread of mine that was removed for being in a "wrong" subsection which was blatantly incorrect and fixed in a couple of hours after I informed them through the Player Support.

Call it a personal bias, but it's hard to remain courteous when you aren't treated professionally from the get go.

<shrug> I feel you, it's not personal bias to react negatively to mistreatment. But remaining professional and courteous is still the most effective way to be heard when you are faced with that mistreatment.

I think you've got some very legitimate concerns and useful ideas here. Something valuable that could contribute to improving the boards.

Contact Riot Support, not the Boards. In rare instances, Rioters can see these posts and help from the spot but you still need to contact them directly first. Don't use the boards as a replacement for Riot Support.

There is no way riot can know that you are using macros on your KB. And its not perma bannable since it is not a script.

First off, yes they can, counting the time between keystrokes is a tell as it will be the same every time.

If it combines multiple abilities into one keystroke it is bannable. They've said so. Players cannot use any software to give them that much of an edge. As you've said, it's fairly easy for them to detect if they are being used, and as it is a gameplay offense (and not a behavioral/chat offense) the first punishment is at minimum a 14 day suspension.

What exactly are you basing your opinion on?

You can't see all the support tickets Riot handles, so the only source of information for you are threads where they "get called out on it". You literally have no information whatsoever about how often Riot corrects mistakes without being called out on it.

You can't verify whether or not Riot made a mistake unless they admit it, so you have literally no information on how often the "innocents" that are banned by Riot are simply lying through their teeth.

And once again: You can't verify whether or not Riot made a mistake unless they admit it, so I don't really get why you would assume that Riot never admits their mistakes (especially commenting in a thread where they did admit a mistake). If they never admitted their mistakes, you would never actually know that they made any.

Pmuch every class update has been a complete and utter failure. The same with every single rework apart from WW. Nay, Rito has done so much damage to the game is such a short amount of time it defies my ability of comprehension.
