Loosing LP because AFK'ing' people

So like the title says, loosing LP because people think its "funny" or whatever to leave the game, after the 3min mark ends to remake, and ruin it for the other 4 players in their team - which will end in loosing LP for the team with 4 players left.

I'm playing LoL for a while now and this loosing LP thing ,because people deciede to go AFK, got overhand since i started to play rankeds alot more. I'm playing on Gold V atm. and the AFK'ing' people got out of hand and with that my LP got out of hand too. Im loosing more games because people deciede to just AFK because they think the team is "bad" or they get "no ganks" or w/e the reason is. And i think in a competetive TEAM based game its, atleast imo, really anticlimatik to loose your ranking when you cant really do anything in a 4v5. There should be some harder punishment for those people who just AFK in rankeds, and no i dont talk about the ones you can remake easily. Punish the players with a proper 7-day suspension or something similar, im loosing the interest in playing rankeds because i know when i've again the bad luck and get someone who just goes afk that 1. i'll most likely loose the game, because of the mentality of most layers 2. the AFK person wont be punsished properly -afaik. And yes, i know that 4 vs 5 is not 'unwinnable' but the mentality of most players is like " Oh no he's AFK, report him and open mid" and then they jsut stand around in the base.

Yes im open for constructive criticism and i'd like to hear opinions from other people about the AFK situation, what you've encountered or what would be a proper 'punishment' for those who AFK.

I'm always uncomfortable with the idea of stricter punishments for AFKing, because there are legitimate, uncontrollable reasons a player may need to AFK for. RL emergencies, unanticipated situations, power/internet loss, uncontrollable connection issues along that player's network path, etc.

If we can find a way to differentiate between intentional, "trolling" disconnects and legitimate issues, then I'm all for it. Having a 7+ day suspension because you got a call that your wife was in a fender bender and now you have to pick up your kid at school isn't appropriate, imho. League is, ultimately, a game, no matter how seriously some people take it.

My best attempt at that would be that any threats to AFK or mentions of intentionally leaving as a threat would earn a punishment, as that's toxic behavior supported by AFKing. The same could be made true for excessive streaks of AFKing -- 30%+ of games within a time frame of a few days, for example. I think that just the occasional AFK is something we have to live with though.
