Banned for using razer synapse?

I just got home to an e-mail saying I have been banned for 3rd party software? The only software I have ever used was turning on razer synapse data tracking with heatmaps all of 4 days ago. Apparently I am not the only one who has been unjustly banned for 3rd party programs. I can see a few of these posts floating around the boards already. I am in the middle of uploading all of my existing games in the past couple weeks to youtube and will post them here once they are finished for proof.

(These are just the most recent games linking to my account, I have access to probably close to another 40 games saved on plays.tv if people still don't believe me)

Oh man i was banned for drop hacks :/ I completely regret it and totally feel you.

Weird though it looks like you play legit, and none of your winrates look like a scripter :/ Maybe riot did make a mistake?

Nope, trust me even if it was a mistake Riot support never undo the ban unless there is a huge uproar like the time huge amount of players got ban for 3rd party. Even though they all said they didn't other then used a program to check champion stats which I forgot what it's called the Riot support team were 0 help and completely did nothing other then give a robot reply. You need a Rioter who does ban to check this so don't waste time asking or submitting a ticket to support.They will instantly accuse you of lieing and say "This matter is closed and won't be discussed any more". Best chance is hope for Riot tantrum maybe to look into the case.

You have to go through support though. It's the official channel and if they don't help they often instruct you to come to the boards. Rioters won't notice unless you're actively trying to get attention from their support and updating the situation.

There's tons of supposed false bans so I don't blame them for being strict but asking someone to try and wave down an elusive rioter is a pretty dumb appeals process.

This is the sad truth honestly. For Riot a ban is a ban it doesn't matter the circumstances or if it a mistaken ban. The only way to have a ban undone is be a pro player or twitch streamer and pay to have the account unbanned (i.e. Tyler1, Imaqtpie, The Rain Man).

I came back after being out of state to see my account had been perm banned and when i checked the support ticket none of things were what i had ever said. Someone had hacked my account and got it perm banned. What's worse is they used my credit card to buy $200 of RP. I'll post below what Riot told me in my support ticket.

Then tell me why a pro player can have their account unbanned but a casual player cant. If you are brave enough answer me that. Because I know everything that happened with Tyler1, Imaqtpie, and The Rain Man. You can't hide the fact that you are giving them preferential treatment because of who they are.

Like I said if you are brave enough tell me why the pro players get special treatment.

I did check your account op.gg and yeah it doesn't look like you are a scripter at all either..

I also just checked the last 24 hours of posts with the word banned in it... and it looks like a few other users as well may have been banned by mistake because their winrates were also pretty garbo.

Now I know winrates don't really prove that you are not cheating, but wouldn't it be silly if you were to cheat at a game and not try to win ?

I had several players in norms and flex q so far with absolutely terrible stats, being silver V negative winrate and suddenly pulling out challenger riven mechanics but still dieing like 15 times in a game and losing it. I guess a lot just use it once in a while for the lulz or when they think noone bothers in norms or flex q.

Perhaps. However as I said a few times I have recordings of a lot of my recent games, so if you actually care, feel free to go through my account match history and ask for an upload on a game you'd consider suspicious and I'd be happy to comply. It would be inefficient for me to mass upload 50 ish games though. So I only included my recent ones for this specific post

Sucks to hear. It's a real shame that this keeps happening to players. The current schema of wide bans with proving innocence later (or when Reddit freaks out) is a literal joke and really goes against what is fair and just. So I feel for you.

Riot needs to do a better job to clarify what 3rd party programs are valid and which are not so players can better help themselves from falling into this pitfall. The pattern of players trying to use programs to gain information on the game or metrics of their own play shouldn't be grounds for banning, but it currently seems to be. Even if there is an argument that disallows the use of programs that give an unfair advantage, it can be argued in return that currently acceptable programs like Curse Voice or others do give an advantage in-game. So to hear that you got banned for using mouse tracking software that doesn't actually assist you in-game is completely hypocritical as a codified rule in the ToS.

Man I love how utterly impersonal that support response was. It's so copy paste it could almost not apply to your situation. Like, why mention securing your account, if it's their internal systems causing the issue? Pretty sure there's nothing you can do about that.

Because a bot made by fallible human beings is obviously going to be perfect every time and its OPs fault for using a common app that gave a false positive. /endsarcasm

This shit happened WAY less often in Tribunal era it feels like, tho that was more player behavior related. But since they started using bots for everything confirmed false bans seem to happen every month.

I mean they gotta do what they gotta do. Not that I necessarily agree with the "ban first ask questions later" ideal, but I knew I wasn't using malicious 3rd party software so I was confident that it would be okay, as long as someone looked into it. My fear was all the horror stories of riot support just dismissing tickets without real investigation, hence why I posted here as well as opening a ticket to draw attention to it. Realistically as long as my ticket didn't just end up in the trash bin without looking into it, I knew it would be fine..

Typically it is the most obvious giveaway. You see someone in any elo with a win rate over 70% you should automatically think 1 or more of the following 4 things:

  1. he's getting boosted
  2. he's scripting
  3. he's a smurf
  4. fuck I hope I don't get matched against him ever he's a literal god with that champ (#4 being the least common correct answer by a LONG shot) Edit: assuming that win rate is based on a reasonable number of games. For me I assume accuracy after about 30-50 games played

Razer Synapse macros can't do anything then reset keybinds, such as on a mouse or keyboard. You can't just enter a script that auto plays for you.

I mean that all the macros on Synapse let you do is to reassign key on the keyboard. For example, I have a Razer Naga. What a macro on synapse is able to do is set the "9" key, or one of the other keys on it, to a keyboard press, like "G". It can't automatically do attacks or combos, nor can it be multiple key presses at once.

Synapse can set up multi key button macros. You can even create delays or a macro script to push buttons in a set order with set delays with a single press of the button. WHICH IS bannable.

As long as you are not using the macro setting your fine. I should know as I have had Razer equipment installed for YEARS.

I've had Razr Synapse installed and use a Razr Mouse for almost a year. Never had any issue.

I have my mouse button mapped to keyboard shortcuts like alt-tab, copy-paste, etc. But no macros or key combos.

I would bet that if you just don't try to use Macros for an unfair advantage then you probably won't have any problems.

I thought I had articulated what the probable cause was relatively well, but apparently not. I don't run macro's. The feature I recently started using which coincides with sudden problems (ie. ban) is the function synapse offers which is opt in, where razer records your mouse and keystrokes in games you play and puts it in a heatmap format to reflect on and see basically what you subconsciously do in your games and whatnot.

I was simply reassuring Dunkin Darius that just having Razr Synapse won't get you banned. I've got no idea what happens when you start making use of it's extra features.

Edit: some macros are allowed. things like text macros are allowed.

{quoted} text macros don't pose an issue for competitive play and doesn't provide any inherent and/or unfair advantages. It's not something that Riot is actioning on at this time.

Macros that handle game actions (such as place ward + hop to it) are not allowed, and can get you banned. They are treated like scripts because on a basic level that's what they are.

Then you'd have a history of developing those reflexes, or times when they're inconsistent (no matter how good your reflexes are they're not going to always be 1 ms apart).

It's believed that the client also looks at what programs are running when it's running, and it would be quite peculiar for someone who has reflexes that are as good as macros to have a program that handles macros running.

EDIT: I saw the rest of the chain. Also the Riot employee said "suspicious activity." If I were you, I would change the account password to something new. Your account may have been compromised and someone else being on your account may have gotten the ban in the first place.

I was banned as well for "third party programs" yet the only modifications i had ever made to league was an announcer pack and i had gotten Razer Synapse not long before i was banned. They also said i was "account sharing" yet noone has my account information aside from myself, i do log in from multiple locations because i travel frequently and i used to go back and forth between my parents when i was still with them. I had two other friends banned as well who had just gotten the same announcer pack and both use Razer Synapse and they were both Bronze 2 and Bronze 4 at the time and i was Gold 1. Yet when i was banned i was on a horrible losing streak lol? if i had the recordings still i would 100% post them for review but i had to delete them for space issues sadly. But i just dont understand why I was banned? I dont even use the Macros in Synapse never have probably never will. But why can professional players use replay tools and announcer packs and be fine if i cannot?

If you believe you were banned falsely, do what the OP did and please contact support, they should be able to help you sort out your issues and figure out if it's a just ban or a false positive just like they helped the OP fix his account. ^^
