"Scammed" By Riot - Led to a 500 euro account loss

I have to present this so more people know. A week ago I was chatting with someone in face book about transfering the account to him. He wanted to see the account so I provided him the Username and password. I don't know how or why, he managed to take over the account. Changed the Username-Password and the email linked to the account without ME EVER PROVIDING ANY SECURITY CODE FROM MY EMAIL.

Riot permanently suspended the account under the charge that it was part of a "buy-sell" process. They insist that there was no takeover. And that its solely my fault that I lost the account. They never provided any proof that my email was safe. They ignored the fact that the Username and the Password were changed without me ever taking part in it. And just stuck to the the part of the "buy-sell" process which is understandably against the Terms of Use.

And after a series of emails the RIOT SUPPORT TEAM KNOWINGLY CHOSE TO IGNORE ME.

So I say this to you all. If your account ever gets hacked. And if the culprit tries to sell it. You will not be able to retrieve it. Because these people just want to get rid of your case. They see it just as a work load and want to get rid of you. If you ask them a specific question, they do not answer specifically.

After 4 years of investing to that account, I have spent more than 500 euros. And that mostly because I believe that a software company that provides entertainment for free, should be rewarded. And now its all lost. Partly because of my ignorance and partly because they don't want to help me ( or you ) but punish me.

P.S. - " If you would like to discuss your punishment in more detail with Riot, you can send in a Player Support ticket and they will help answer your inquiries." DONE THAT AND IT ENDED WITH YOUR SUPPORT TEAM IGNORING ME

You are entirely responsible for this because you gave up your login info willingly. You are not allowed to sell your account because it is not your property.

Implications that you were selling the account aside, you are aware that sharing the account is grounds for a perma-ban as well right?

Maximum Morde12/2/2016, 12:54:26 PM12 votes

So you were going to sell an account, and it got banned. I don't see the issue.

EvilDustMan12/2/2016, 12:52:53 PM8 votes

....so you are upset that you were going to sell the account to someone, but they stole it be because youhandled the situation poorly?

"I provided him the Username and password" I stopped reading after that.

You're dumb and you deserve it.

Zach Sandwhich12/2/2016, 1:09:37 PM4 votes

You literally have this dude your password after he asked. Sorry for your dumbass, but you honestly deserved this if you just handed over the password.

Besides Riot probably already banned the account, so getting it back really isn't going to do much.

transfering the account to him

That's the problem. Case closed.

  1. You gave the guy your user name and password. What did you expect was going to happen?

  2. Transferring accounts is against Riot's terms of use. The ban was 100% justified.

BigBellBrute12/2/2016, 8:20:08 PM3 votes
  1. You are not allowed to transfer the account or share the account between two or more people.
  2. You admitted you initiated the process to transfer the account.
  3. You gave away your password voluntarily. It wasn't hacked.
  4. Therefore the account was rightfully banned.

Tangential: Whether your email was hacked without authorization by the person you were going to transfer the account to I don't know. But even if it was, that is irrelevant. You initiated the process. You were in violation of the rules and so was the person you were going to transfer it to. The account was rightfully banned.
I'm sorry you got scammed. But blaming Riot for scamming you is incorrect. If anything, you and the guy you were going to transfer the account to were attempting to scam riot.

Riot did not scam you but the player who did sell it to you. The EULA does explicitely state you cannot give account to other. Thus do not blame Riot when you get caught for breaking the rules.

Let me see if I get this straight. You: A. Attempted to give away/sell your account to someone (This alone is pretty much a Permaban offense) B. Freely gave away your log in info to said person, which makes you responsible for every action they commit on said account. (Oh yes, by the way, that too is also a 14 day or Permaban offense). C. Curse their sudden but inevitable betrayal. D. Shocked that Riot isn't going to restore your account. Because every single rule violation committed on it, can be traced back as resulting from your decisions.

That about sum it up?

"They never provided any proof that my email was safe" That's not their job. Besides there are plenty of password leaks, yours was likely one of them. You should also be disappointed, your account was only worth 500 Euros? "Partly because of my ignorance" I would lean more towards 100% your ignorance and foolishness.

Tell me this. 1.Your email gets hacked 2.The culprit takes over the account 3.Tries to sell it

How am I responsible for the selling? Sure I am for giving the login info but I have the email and I control the account. Is it possible to change the login info without my permission? This is not the case here though. I am posting this because I believe it has been mishandled. There are 2 issues. 1: buy-sell process and 2: Compromised account They only examined the 1st one.

i believe you don't have the right to sell your account

you are so silly

what you should do (i assume you can't restore it with the e-mail, either because that guy hacked your e-mail or for some other reason like you didn't validate your e-mail or something):

  1. delete this thread

  2. file a support ticket on the support page

  3. write in the ticket that your account was hacked. nothing that you wanted to sell it and gave away the password etc crap, no, it was hacked and you don't know how

  4. they will ask you some questions like a part of the number of your cc, your purchases, you also can tell them you have an access to the registration e-mail (change its password just in case btw) and when you answer those they will likely restore you your account, unless they know this crap about your attempt to sell it, then it is gone

Martensitic12/2/2016, 7:50:06 PM1 votes

How he managed to change your account information is irrelevant. (Based on the fact that you give login information to strangers on the internet, I will hazard the guess here that it was most likely your fault.)

#You gave your login information away to another person. #= Account sharing.

That alone is ample reason for a permaban.

I don't understand. What legit reason did you have for an "account transfer"?
