I've wondered, if it could be possible to unlock the names of permabanned accouts to reformed players? I myself regret acting in a way that my main account got permabanned, and the name of the account holds alot of meaning to me, so getting to use the name again after riot sees that i have reformed would mean the world to me.
On the one hand I understand why a banned account name is permanently unavailable, and I don't really think that system necessarily needs a change.
On the other hand, this is a reformation reward I personally wouldn't object to -- no return of purchased items or unlocked content, but a chance to reclaim an old account name. It still creates a meaningful and permanent punishment for violating the rules, but offers a potentially appealing reward to summoners who truly seek to reform.
Hm. This may actually be the best "give a reward to reformed players" suggestion I've seen yet.
The name just like the account itself stays banned as a reminding scar of what could happen.
In general, this would be helpful, simply for the sake of name availability, Ban the account name, not the summoner name please riot! and if the account is banned, the summoner name is released ^^
Any inactive account that is level 30+ the name becomes available after 30 months.
If your account has been banned for longer then this, go to name change option in the client, once you type the name in, it will tell you if it is available or not.
I have never seen a comment that a banned account name is locked forever, it might be though.
