7,000,000 x 0.06 = 420,000, but 0.06 doesnt represent 0.06%, it represents 6% - The actual number you're looking for here is 4,200, and if you believe that number, then I personally own over 5% of all accounts ever banned by riot for toxicity [lol please]. So I'll assume you agree with this first fact.
M'kay. I don't deal with gathering percentage-based values out of decimals often enough to have that perfectly down in my head, so you can pardon a mistake with what I already pointed out was very rough math.
That said, don't assume that I agree with you when you still haven't really proven anything. All you did was point out a mathematical error on my part and adjust the rough numbers. Your claim (that the 0.006% statistic - thanks to Periscope for clarifying - is false) still remains unproven.
Here's how to do that:
- Get the number of active accounts in League of Legends.
- Get the 0.006% from that number.
- Compare with the number of Permanently Banned accounts in League of Legends.
However, since Riot's statistics data is largely private, it's unlikely that you would be able to prove that - which is the point of my rough math above, in case you missed it:
And this is just rough numbers, the actual value could vary, and this isn't taking into account any special factors (like individual accounts per player), and there isn't any public-facing data with which to compare the math to.
So unless you somehow have access to data that the community doesn't have access to and are willing to actually go into detail about how the number is false, your claim cannot be regarded as factual. It's just a claim.
The math was rough because it wasn't intended to be accurate, since there's nothing that could verify whether or not it's true. As a consequence, your claim can't be proven by that same measure.
You say "That doesn't indicate that the system doesn't work, it just highlights a flaw in the Free-to-Play model that League of Legends uses."
Those two are mutually inclusive. The flaw is why is doesn't work. You're trying to say square wheels don't roll well, because riot made them square, instead of actually making them round in the first place. This is a non-argument, so we'll assume you agree with the fact I presented.
You should probably stop assuming, because you're wrong on three counts now.
You're trying to say square wheels don't roll well, because riot made them square, instead of actually making them round in the first place.
I'm saying that the punishment system works, but that the Free-to-Play model conflicts with the punishment system in some regard.
Those two are mutually inclusive. The flaw is why is doesn't work.
The flaw (some toxic players returning on new accounts) is not universal. Not every player who gets permanently banned returns to League, and not every permabanned player who returns continues misbehaving. That indicates that the system does work, just not perfectly.
...we'll assume you agree with the fact I presented.
Until I say "I agree with you", do not assume that I agree with you. Full stop.
Finally, you interject "Beyond that, players underperforming or trolling or intentional feeding aren't the root causes of flaming."
This is the most patently false statement any moderator, admin, rioter, or interested party has ever made on this forum since its inception.
If it's false, explain why.
The entire basis of everything you said is that I should SOLVE the problem, instead of just stating the FACTS here. The thing is, I [no longer] don't get paid to do so, and that's something Riot has to do for itself.
Then there's no point to continuing this discussion. If you claim that the system doesn't work and that you have all the facts pointing towards it, but don't put forward a solution, then all your arguing and all your claims are pointless.
And with that being the case, I'm going to bow out. There's no productive end to continuing this discussion, so it's best to just leave with the advice of "don't assume another party's position".
