Afks?

I've been having a lot of afks in my games lately, and it's really ruining my games. I had three afks yesterday alone, not to mention one that I had today, and two for the rest of the week. I was wondering what was with the sudden amount. I'm not professional with this... But

One of these cases was in Team Builder, and I was playing Kindred. We had a Yasuo mid who was going against a hiemerdinger. He was having issues against heim so, like a good jungler, I went to go gank to help him. He backed off as soon as I went in, leaving me to die. He then proceeded to say that "This jungler is horrid, I'm afk." Then, he afked. The game continued and we lost. I only died once in that game, but it still was not a good experience, as we had to surrender as we had no choice.

This one wasn't on my team but, I feel sorry for the enemy team. It was a ranked game, and they had two afks after our midlaner dc'd. They had no chance in the game and I want to know what is with all of the afks recently.
