It is a game. There is no reason that someone has to play a certain way due to a certain meta at any given point. There has also been a trend of people playing mages bottom instead of ADCs.
The reverse logic could be applied and say that their team has to play the conventional way because you want to? It can be a drag but it is only one game and you should have fun with it and see what you can learn.
the new meta is AD in top / mid lane, jg tank, APC bot lane, sustain support.
If you want to be anti-META, at least keep up with the META.
Atm, even pros are playing mages instead of normal ADC, as mages get their power through levels, which lets them do better early on against the enemy adc, who needs items to do damage. Also, there is no "real" adc role, Riot goes by "Top, Mid, Jungle, Support, Bot". Not only that, Riot as stated that you can play whoever you want, however you want, wherever you want, as long as you are still trying to win the game. So, if anything this post can be seen as "toxic" to some. But that is just my view points, and the facts.
