Banning Champions

So i just recently got back into league and already have a issue with the new setup of picking and banning champions. First few games went ok, but now i ran into a dick banning the champion i wanted to play. So i did not want to pick another champion. And now i got a ban of 15 minutes because he was a dick. What is this? So you can be a dick at the start and get away with it league?

Yuh.. that got me angry. So in my eyes it seems to me you guys and gals at riot need to rethink this option, cause it can lead up to early anger and what not in and out of the game, before the game even started.

Maybe try having more than 1 champion in your champion pool for when this happens.

it doesnt happen often. but it does happen from time to time. Best to be safe and have that 2nd champion to fall back on.

It does happen often, almost every game i played so far has had this happen. Maybe i am unlucky?

But that is besides the point. Yuh.. got plenty of champions to pick from, that is also not the point, i just wanted to play that specific champion at that time.

But it has happened to many times now already that i quited the game and probably won't be back for a while, probably for the better, not very healthy to angry about stuff like this.

You're misrepresenting the situation. The player used the permissible game mechanic of banning a champion they did not want to see picked, and you got mad about it and so dodged (and it wasn't your first dodge it appears). The ban mechanic takes priority over the pick mechanic. Every player is permitted to ban whatever champion they wish to ban for whatever reason.

You are not, however, permitted to waste others' time in champ select without penalty.

Yuh... it was my first dodge and it was unintended too.

The point is, what prevents me from being a dick too and ban the champion they wanna play? Sure they can pick something else, i would have too, but was to angry at that point that i forgot to pick something else.

To me it feels like you can get away with being a dick.

Not only that, it totally killed my mood to put any efford into the game. And i do think riot needs to rethink this option. Even if no one says a hing, i bet there gonna be people that gonna respond in a very bad way. Be it in chat, be it how they play the game, to me that is very understandable. You set your hopes to play that champion and now you have the chance your team mate going to ruin it on top of what the enemy can do. Like the fight has started before the game.

So.. yuh.. feels like i am getting punished for what someone else does.

There are many, many valid reasons to ban a champion in the game even if your teammate has hovered it. It is not possible to filter out players who are doing it to "be a dick" as that requires mind reading (not yet possible, unfortunately). Thus, Riot allows it in all instances.

Yes, some people may do it to be a dick. The only thing I can say is to deal with it and play another champ - there's 140 of them in the game - not playing one is not the most important thing in the world.

True to that, plenty of champs to pick from.

But you can't deny being dick part, it is show clearly what other people wanna play, yet you still going to ban that champ? At least explain yourself then.

I won't deny it's a dick thing to do, but there's simply no way to force them to chat about it really.

So.. yuh.. next few games it happened again, not to me but to other players, causing them to leave, probably get a 15 minute ban, when someone else is being a dick, this is like the world turned upside down.

The 15 minute ban is leaverbuster. If you don't leave/afk/dodge games often, then it isn't a problem.

As far as the banning goes, it isn't going to change as it is. Some champs are high pick or ban and some people don't want to risk enemies getting it. Sometimes people just don't want to risk that champ (cough Yasuo cough) and some people just have a champ they ban every single time (Darius or Blitz for me)

Yuh i understand leaving the game gives you a penalty, that is not the point i am trying to make. First time i left i already got the 15 minutes ban.

This option leaves the option open for people to be dicks. No matter what their reasoning is. It killed my will to put any efford in the game when i have to pick another champion, when my mind is set to play this specific one i very much enjoy.

But yuh, got another even longer ban now cause i did not pick a champion again.

Time to move on and play other games.

/cheers

Well, the alternative leaves the option for people to be dicks just as much. Got that one Champion you suck against, don't want the enemy to play them, but they're high pick/ban Champs? Well, guess what. The guy in last pick is hovering the Champion so you can't ban them, and the enemy team gets a free pick.

I don't like getting my Champions banned either, but sometimes you have to be willing to suck it up and play someone you don't want to play.

That is just it, does not seem to be sometimes, it happens alot, i dunno, maybe i am just unlucky? Sure i can pick other champs, think i got about half of the champion pool. But that is not my issue with how current banning works. What prevent me from banning their champ as well? You get two angry unhappy people in your game instead of one? I am sure you know the feel.

Perhaps it's less an issue of luck and more an issue of MMR? As far as I've seen, it's fairly rare for people in my matches to ban each other's pick intent, but that's only my experience.

What prevent me from banning their champ as well?

Nothing save whether or not you've already banned someone. I'm not advocating you ban their pick intent out of spite, mind, but there really isn't anything to stop you. Just don't expect for retaliation to pay off.

You get two angry unhappy people in your game instead of one? I am sure you know the feel.

Well, I'm always angry, so that part's moot. But, yeah. I do know the feeling. It's happened to me once or twice, but it doesn't matter whether or not I sympathize. Being able to ban anyone regardless of pick intent is just kind of a necessary evil.

Yeah the other day, I literally had a guy look me up and his premade target banned my champions just to troll me.

Bans are overrated, and there's enough champs now that it doesn't make that much of a difference.

FluffyDaysleeper1 votes

But it does when your own team mates ban the champ you wanna play, sure plenty to champs to pick from, but that is not the point, this option leaves the option open for people to be dicks.

Oxyrotten1 votes

I just agreed with you, I am not sure what your responding to.

FluffyDaysleeper2 votes

Weird.. pretty sure it was a response to someone else.. sorry about that.

Oxyrotten1 votes

It's whatever. I can see how what I wrote could be misread, probably my fault.

Why should they risk the enemy getting that champ?
