False downloads, programs, exact reasoning, 0% game proof, and bugged links

So, I was perma banned because of a scan by Riot Game(s) and I had no mods installed, no downloaded skins, etc. I was simply banned for the usage of mods, hacks, scripts, and third party programs. I've played LoL since season 4 and I've been a nice player not salty not rude or anything like that, but sometimes people screw you over. Around, I'm gonna say 2 weeks ago, a friend sent me a video link, I'd known her for a while so you know I didn't think anything of it and clicked it. My League closed and my internet bugged for a second, being the stereotypical nerd I am, a I was more worried about my browser thinking something bugged with that so I scanned and nothing came up. A week later I was playing a nice game with a couple of friends as Fiddle mid and we won, right after my LoL closed and a nice little message from Riot popped up saying I'd used third-party programs... I wasn't in a good mood after that, but thinking it was a mistake I contacted riot through a ticket on Riot Support. This is the conversation here

Anyway so I talked with a specialist by the user name Wobbly Jibbler, nice guy, but he said they looked twice over my account saying I had mods installed. I asked if there was ANY other proof like game play footage, he said no just the scan. I then asked what kind of mod/script it was. He simply sent me the same message.

I told a friend of mine who I know in REAL LIFE to call riot and tell them I've never done anything wrong. He told the man on the phone my summoner tag and he just sighed not even typing or looking ANY information up and said, "I'm sorry, but there's nothing we can do, the scan is never wrong." I was in the same room with my friend who then called him... Some things and hang up the phone.

I came home later that day and did a scan through my computer files and found a folder in my LoL folder that didn't belong, it was named "MultiBug" I looked through the folder and it had software that could be used to slow other summoner's clients, the date it was added was 4/14/2016. I removed the file and sent a message asking if I'd completely uninstall League and reinstall it if that would fix the problem, that message and the one before have been up for 2 days.

I'm still waiting for a reply.

P.S: the summoner who sent me this is still on my friends list I think, she blocked me on Skype and LoL after she sent the link so I believe her account might have been hacked.

You scripted, Riot can't provide proof because then scripters would know their banning process/what they can and do detect.

I hate to be skeptical, but it's unlikely that a malicious virus or malware would install a third-party program that was designed to give you an unfair advantage.

Viruses and malware are designed to gather information or wreck your computer (and then try to sell you a fake "anti-virus" to remove it). They are made to either provide gain for the person that unleashed it, or for general destructive purposes. And viruses that are just destructive are very rare now-a-days. Most try to push a fake anti-virus onto you or steal account info.

I actually wouldn't put it past some troll to put something together that would install such a program on the victim's machine in order to get their accounts banned for having it installed. It would pretty much be the best way to try to get somebody banned without actually stealing their account. Might be that somebody who was banned for using that specific program suddenly found themselves with lots of spare time on their hands, and a vendetta against Riot and/or the League community.

That is to say, it could be feasible. Might this also just be another attempted cover-up story for somebody being caught cheating? That's also very likely. But on the off chance that there's a link going around tricking people into installing programs that'll get them banned, it would be prudent for Riot to at least look into the matter a little more deeply.

With the amount of effort required, they would just steal the account and sell it to make a profit (and still probably get the account banned for account trading).

Even if a link was provided that went to a site that installed a cheat system against your will (as incredibly unlikely that is), how does the player prove that they got the cheat system from this link?

All depends on the motivation behind it. If the person is going for revenge, they don't care about money they could make selling accounts. They just want to cause a mess and get people banned.

But yeah, it would be a huge mess for Riot, and ultimately they would probably decide that it's up to the player to be cautious about clicking suspicious links. I totally agree that they don't want to set a precedence that "it was installed by a malicious link" is a viable excuse.

It may not have been your fault that program was there, but it was there nonetheless. They don't know if you lied about not installing it or not yourself.

Also I just noticed if I was cheating then why am I so Terrance at the game, I mean look at my match history XD

I've gone as bad as 0/14/0 with TF and then the game before my last I went as Maokai and went 0/9/0

XD I'm still laughing at how they don't look at other evidence, I didn't know I had a mod and even if I had one I'd probably still get my lil rotten tokus kicked! I'm laughing while writing this btw

They did a CRC check against the files. A file didn't match the exactly ... they declared you cheated.

Just buy more stuff on new account .. That is how diablo2 makes money with cdkeys.

3rd party bans are not always just about cheating.

  • Account sharing. You are responsible for what others do on your account.
  • Using unapproved 3rd party programs. (even ones that only make visual or audio changes) Here is an approved list.

Also keep in mind that it is the account that is flagged. Not you. Not just your computer.

As an example, say you get hacked. Riot now sees your account being played on a new computer. Maybe its that other guy's computer that has all this 3rd party stuff installed, but because you failed to maintain your account security that guy's 3rd party stuff is now associated with your account.

Correct. But don't read too much into it. Some people will like or dislike in a knee jerk manner, some to troll, some to express agreement or disagreement(I fall here), and some even do it to hide a post if they feel the topic has ended.
