PROPOSITION TO DEAL WITH NEGATIVE PLAYERS AND TROLLS

Hello Everyone, I have been on league for a few years now and I have seen the league community degrade ever so gradually year per year. I am writing this with not a complaint but a solution to everyone's problem, the trolls or negative players so to speak of. You know the players who don't listen and constantly make the same mistakes in lane and dying over and over again or not doing their roles properly, whatever it maybe, etc. My solution is very easily integrate-able into league. My proposal to league is to utilize the grading system they already have in game in order to judge the penalty for a lost. Sometimes you can get a S on your game play but lose due to your teammates gameplay and that is not fair to the players who are doing well or playing well. So hear me out, For example, the maximum lp lost per game would be 25 and players who recieve a gameplay of -b or c would get the full penalty 25lp and S rank would lose only 3-5 lp per game and so on. This will strategy will put a lot of players who do well at ease because its not fair to lose as a team when you win individually, I know this is a team game however not all players see it that way, some players are negative and will troll, just because they are doing bad and dont want to listen to reason. So this will give players who are doing well a reason not to flame and keep doing well, rather than complain about their losing teammates they will strive for their own high grade to not lose more LP. Thus in turn making the community/players more aware of themselvees and how they play rather than counting on others to carry them. Hope this makes it up to the league developers and i hope they take this into consideration.

This is open for discussion, not saying that my way is the only way but merely a suggestion. I would love to hear some of your solutions to this problem as well. Hopefully riot will read some of these and take into consideration.

Thank you, J

It's too abuseable. I get s ranks all the time by q up support and taking all the cs away from my adc

It's not a good idea. The way the grading system works is that it takes your champion and role and then compares it against other people playing that same champion in that same role. You're gonna end up causing two main issues:

1.) Players will pick random weird champions in position to benefit themselves and not their team. For example, getting an S on Janna is a lot easier to do so in the top lane than it is as a support

2.) Players will focus on maximizing their score instead of winning the game. Another example, CS counts as a huge part of your overall score. Supports will begin taking farm and players will refuse to group just so that they can farm up.

so this grading system is going to be implemented to punish inexperienced players more and promote kill stealing arguments and cs arguments since that's how most think the grades are given out...

at least you're trying so A for effort.

i read it that is so true finally someone with a sense of real solution for trolls and for players to not get brought down by the trolls that are not getting punished and keep making it past the rank they don't deserve to have that would solve so many bad players to not make it farther to ruin games for everyone else, and by bad players i'm not talking about the bronze players I'm talking about the trolls that do the bs first time champ pick or choosing a champion they know don't belong in that lane and feed goes to troll the team by feeding and verbally abusing the team. i hope riot really looks at your post because reporting really doesn't do shit at the end of the day.

Please no. There are already too many KDA players in this game. Plus this would screw over tank players that have to go in and absorb damage for the team. Meanwhile Lux players would just stand back with their 0 deaths and KDA farm and never take a risk.

The problem is that Riot doesn't care about poor nor individual play since their is no accurate way to gauge skill. The Mastery/Grading system does not accurately gauge a player's skill level at all.

While possibly being my personal opinion, I feel your Champion grading solution aside from the other issues brought up already (imo) has the other issue that players will likely change their playstyle a lot -

  • They will be less likely to engage (or go in) due to a higher chance of dying thus lowering their player score; they'll sit back and wait so they can KS/Clean-up. This can be a good thing or a bad thing. But players, in general, will be more paranoid. They'd be more willing to give objectives up in a losing game so long as they can avoid getting killed and farm cs to maximize their score. This can cause less teamwork.

  • Encourage more toxicity when being or having the impression of being "baited into" something or getting camped/ganked by the jungler. Unlucky games will have an even larger effect here. They will become discouraged knowing their huge deaths (due to some cases constant turret dives) may leave them wanting to troll/afk etc. After all they will likely lose close to the maximum LP loss.

  • More Pressure to perform! More psychological but... under pressure, some people tend to crack. Think Promo Games vs Normal Ranked Games. This system will probably put pressure on players to perform above and beyond. Which can again lead to negative behavior after an unlucky mishap in game or easier to fall into that tilt mindset.

  • This is at the end of the day, a teamgame. Supports more or less rely on others to carry them. We can ward, engage, heal etc. But if the team doesn't want to help follow-up, deal damage etc. What more do you want the support to do >.<. One troll adc can put us behind a lot a lot. If it was a Top Laner or a Jungler, they can carry solo if fed and etc. But if it was a Support that was good... not so easy - we can only get assists/kills for mastery score if team is decent.

THAT Being said - me and my friends were discussing a solution that may help deal with negative players and trolls. We came up with a more messy answer. But we use the Honor system the same way others use the feedback system. Just like you gravitate towards a person with a higher positive feedback score on eBay (for example) and wary of those with negative feedback. You could sorta do the same in League. More importance placed on the Honor system (to be used in this sense) means players should/would actually give honor. You may have to change the Honor system to say positive and negative - but it allows the system to recommend breaks or lock ranked mode (until 2 normal games or similar) on players with consistent (2 to 3 in a row perhaps) negative honors. After the penalties, the player can return back to neutral (not positive or negative) and see if improvements to attitude happens.

If you feel more of a sacrificial lamb style - you could match people with consistent positive honors with consistent positive honors and have consistent negatives with consistent negatives. This does sound sketchy (I'm aware). But it could cause people to purposely avoid trying to get hit with the "Negative Queue". Though personally, the player experience will probably suck.

If you feel an LP punishment is worth looking into, you could reduce less LP from positive or consistent positive people. I do NOT recommend reducing more LP from negative as they could be trying to improve their attitude.

But having the focus on the player's attitude (as judged by teammates) is probably the key for me. I like games (win or lose) if the team is chilled/friendly. I do not like getting flamed because I got unlucky. It is a messy system I agree. But it's a concept that would probably nudge players in the direction of positivity.

The grading system would be based on chat experience. Foul language, and other key words can count against you. This could also be based on others who play league too, just like the champ grading system.

After a certain amount of language grades that fall below a standard, you receive your bans.

There would be two grading scores, your champ score like we already get, and then a language summoner score.

Above average summoners should be the metric of what to base on, and then go from there.
