Account perma banned

So after a ranked match I was notified for being reported. My account has never received warnings in the past and aside from some shot calling disputes I am never toxic. No foul use of language whatsoever. So it was a shock that after the game my account was perma banned with no warning. I went to check the "email" riot games was supposed to send me but there is no such thing. Im furious and confused why this is the outcome?! Can someone explain what may have happened?

EDIT: Riot has come back and told me this was a protective suspension! Thanks all for your help and good luck with future endeavors!!!

Your account has a protective suspension on it.

You will need to write in to player support to verify the account is yours.

Any idea on how long this could take? I've changed email before is there a more preventative option I can take such as a two step authentication.

There's always the option of Live Encryption where you can have your password change at set intervals, though that is probably a bit too complicated for Riot Games to even get setup. The idea is that your password is consistently changing, think about authenticator codes that games such as Runescape use alongside your passcode to allow you to log-in when you're logging in from a different IP than where you commonly logging in from, however the live encryption is just the changing codes portion removing the passcode. It makes it infinitely harder for someone to hack an account since the codes are consistently changing and with over several billion possibilities for said passcode not many people would even bother trying to figure it out.

Riot games is worth 1.6 billion dollars and draws a lot of talent to work for them. They're just too cheap/don't care about their players.

Most companies don't care for their playerbase's bar a few like Gearbox and Bungie. Games that have a Login style system are the largest offenders when it comes to account's being compromised. They refuse to up their security protocols when vulnerabilities are being exploit and pin the blame and the player for not keeping their account secure when in-fact there are multiple steps for a simple log-in protocol for most games. Usually for anyone who wants to get access to someone else's account, whether the intent is good or bad, they just need to find a single flaw within the operations of said games log-in protocol. This is usually done in one of several ways which I won't state on these boards for obvious reasons.

So why is it not a complete embarrassment for Riot (who is not independent, and worth more than/equal to the game devs you are citing, while attracting more talent) to not have security features that other products (like discord, which is worth less than a tenth of LoL) already have?

There's no answer, Riot and all of their employees should be ashamed.

That's exactly my point, Riot should be ashamed and the only thing that would cause for concern when it comes to their security systems is if many Riot accounts become compromised within a small time frame, another factor which would push the security issue over would be if it wasn't just a standard compromised but a server compromise where said offenders would have access even to the new reset passwords along with each email associated with those accounts. Furthermore depending on the skill level of those offenders they could altogether disable the systems which notify the account owner that something has been changed with their account. For as much money as any game earns each year their focuses should mainly be on: Account Security and Bug Fixes for the Majority of their spending follow by New Content as a minor focus.

Nobody likes 2-factor bullshit. It's the most annoying thing to exist since loud upstairs neighbors.

If it's not my fucking bank account, I don't need 2-step authentication. What I need is 2-step login - Enter password and username, press enter.

I know at least one person that loves 2-factor authentication even for game accounts. That said, even that person would agree with the second statement.

I would rather be permabanned and asked trivia questions by Riot (a process that takes days) than check my phone when something seems fishy to them

you're dumb especially considering the average LoL addict probably has more money invested in skins than in their checking account

Opt-in 2 Factor Authentication never hurt anyone, but it does give piece of mind and added security. Considering how much people buy in this game over the years, and that your account can be permanently banned if someone compromises it, it's not that bad an idea to have 2 Factor Authentication as an option.

To go from No Prior Punishment (Chat Restrictions, 14 day ban) to Perma, the most likely results are the following:

Shield "ban": Suspicious activity/log-ins were detected on the account, and a "ban" has been put in place as a temporary lock on your account for security and prevent its misuse. You'll need to contact Riot Support to sort it out, reset password, etc
Cheating/Boosting Ban: You were detected to have been playing with a modded version of the game with unauthorized and disapproved of third party software (skin mods, auto-scripts, use of macros which perform combination actions with 1 button press, etc), or it was detected someone other than you is playing on your account for the purpose of boosting your rank.
Chargeback Hold Ban: If a chargeback was issued on any item purchased in the game store, a ban is placed on your account until the money is paid back. Contact Riot Support.
**Extreme cases of trolling/intentionally losing games. **Self explanatory.

hell its really hard to prove feeding and i mean really hard to prove they would have to watch the match and talk to the player. boosting is another one hell you should report all plat players for being boosted then since hey alot of people boost and its obvious with the misplays and the feed.

oh its 100% not mods or cheating lol running on a mac haha. That being said it makes sense the log ins because my account kept getting changed randomly.... i tried changing my email but i guess that didn't work. Thanks for help though.

What does it say when you try to log in?

Also it could take a little while for the email to come in, or it could be in your spam folder.

Instant permabans with no prior warnings are used primarily for boosting, scripts, or account sharing, and for bank chargebacks. If it's one of the first 3, you won't be getting your account back. For the last one though, it's just when your bank doesn't send Riot the money for the RP, and can be reverted just by getting the account settled.

They sometimes "permaban" for things like banking or security issues. If I recall correctly, if they have reason to believe you've been hacked or something they might ban the account and send you an email requesting you prove the account's yours. In any case, I'd be patient and wait on an email, which may just be delayed.
