Is it possible to get banned for never using the chat?

I'm currently on a 14 day ban for lossing my marbles in league after a bad game and saying bad things in the chat. I'm wondering if it's acceptable to never use it again because I'm thinking if I don't, it will be considered not cooperating. I'd still use pings for important things though.

On another note, this experience has definitely made my attitude in other games calm, so I'm thankful this suspension made my change my attitude to a less angry one

It is literally 100% better to just never use chat.

One guy on the boards actually downloaded AutoHotKey to disabled his ENTER when he plays League. Because the bans for chat are bad. It isn't worth losing your whole account because a mistake.

No, you can't be punished for not communicating. You can still be punished for intentional feeding, so yea...don't do that.

If you intentionally feed, or use third party programs, you can be banned without using chat.

If you never use chat then the only way you can get banned is for things like trolling, intentionally feeding/afking or cheating (such as using unauthorized 3rd party programs).

Not at all. You can never be punished for not using the chat. Communicating can be used in so many different ways. Pings, emotes, and such. In general, that helps a lot of players who from ever getting punished.

So don't let "no communication" punishment myth get to you.

To my knowledge, you cannot be punished for not typing anything in chat. I've gone many games without typing a single thing.

Nah, you'll be fine. Never using the chat isn't considering "not cooperating" if you are still using pings :)

There's only 5 other ways to get banned , if you don't use chat:

Inting/trolling/running down mid,
account sharing,
elo boosting,
using 3rd party scripts or cheat software,
chargebacks on your account

if you don't do #1 - #5, then you cannot get banned. Chatting is not a requirement and you can communicate with pings.
