A message to the player behavior board

I am writing this post because I personally believe there is a problem on the player behavior board. There is one thing that this entire board lacks and it is incredibly important for defeating and actually helping players to reform. That thing is encouragement.

There are two types of players I see on this board and unfortunately the second one is the minority.

1.) Many people post on this board in regards to bans and can many times be frustrated with the outcome of their account. Instead of replying in an informative way, you will often see players respond in often rude ways, rather than addressing the problem. Even in a somewhat "lackluster" posts like "riot unban me pls" are showered in down votes, as well as rude and toxic comments on their post. People just need to respond and encourage the player to get better in a friendly manner. Explain to them riot's policy on their ban and nothing more, and try to encourage them to reform instead of further frustrating these people. Toxicity in this game comes mostly from frustration and you can't fight fire with fire, but instead you need to help these people with friendly encouragement instead of negativity and down votes. You don't need to tell players they are toxic, riot just did that. Instead try to help them in a light and positive way :)

2.) The second type of player is one that does encourage and is incredibly positive and strives to help those that are frustrated. These are the players that are the gold standard on the community boards. Positivity goes a long way in easing the frustration of punished players and it can help them to find a better path. If they don't take your advice, it's fine, but everyone should try their best to help frustrated players reform.

As a player who has recently been unbanned, I hope everyone takes initiative with me to grow as players this new season. Season 8 is a time to focus on growing and following a path guided by peace, love, and positivity. Everyone can reform and grow as players, even those who are honor 5, and I wish everyone luck on the rift this season :D

I definitely agree with your points!

The main issue is that those who are banned, or otherwise punished come here upset. Which is fine, but not every one of them is very open to listen and grow from people trying to assist them. That then turns people who are #2 to grow into #1's because in their mindset, nothing they do will change. Personally, I'd love to find ways to encourage much more positivity and understanding between Summoners, and as Advisors we're doing our best to foster this type of community as well. Small steps to the future, y'know?

Sorry, but if someone writes a post saying: Riot pls unban me, it's so unfair, I don't deserve this ban

And then posts chat logs and the first thing I read is: KYS retarded fk I hope your entire family gets cancer and contracts aids

Then no, I won't be encouraging, I will tell him here on the forum that I'm glad he is permabanned, and that I'm glad nobody will have to deal with him any more. And to enjoy his ban.

That's not a single instance of negative behavior, in fact, none of the permabanned people are. They all got the slap on the wrist with chat restrictions and a 2week ban. That should be the encouragement they needed to reform, that should give them to think about their behavior. If after that they still can't behave in a civil manner on the chat, well too bad, I'm not going to feel pity for them or give them any more advice. Nobody told them to come and bring their issue to the forum, so that's what they get for doing so.

those ones honestly get me the most. the "what I was only toxic once" and then Tantrum comes in and smites them. I honestly see it as a double edge sword you can preach reform but the fact is, it is 100% on the player to honestly not act like a "dick" in chat. We can hope they change and this community changes but the mentality of the player base has to evolve past the stupid trolling and racial taunts. I for one will play with a recently banned player if they are going to level from 1 again and don't want to tilt or be toxic but again its a mentality and a mindset the idea of "reform"
