Avoid playing with people from the "Block list"

Hi,

I would really love a feature in the queue that would make it impossible to play with people I have on my "Block list".

I am pretty sure that all of us have played with toxic people or trolls and don't want to play with them again. Adding them to the "Block list" solves the problem only partially - they cannot speak to us, but they can still destroy all of our afforts during the match. There could be a checkbox before entering queue to switch this functionality on/off as it might have negative impact on the time needed to find a match. But I think this would be one of the best features in the client.

In the end, this feature would actually work as banning, but would be driven by the community. Toxic people or trolls would be on "Block lists" of a lot of people hence they would have a hard time getting into a game.

  • the "banning" functionality could work only for one's team (so that opponents' list would not be influenced by the "Block list") - to avoid "banning" based on that how good a player is
  • the "banning" functionality could work only for ranked games - to allow non-skilled players play non-ranked games and avoid being banned because of their skill level

The issue with such a implementation is that people start using the Block feature for the wrong reasons. They start using it so they don't play with people that they feel are un-skilled, or by avoiding playing against players they feel are too skilled.

This isn't an issue at lower elos since the pool is pretty large, but in upper elos it can become a big problem.

I wouldn't mind if the feature were added to normal modes though.

However, if this feature only impacted players for your own team, then you could still get queued with people you blocked - only play against them. The reasoning is that, one doesn't want to play with a toxic player/troll on the same team. However, one might not have anything against beating that person when playing against. If the toxic player/troll behaves unsportsmanlike again, then his current team will be able to "ban" him/her.

This way, in the end, no one will want to play with this person, and no one will.

On the other hand - everyone wants to play with a good, sportsmanlike player, so these should not be "banned" by their teammates (after a match). Hence, they will be able to find another match. And if you "ban" a good player, because one is good, you only make yourself not to play with that player on the same team, but still play against.

That leaves the first form of abuse I mentioned, people blocking other players, not because they were being offensive or rude, but to avoid having them on their team again because they are perceived as unskilled.

As you said it yourself, lower elos pool is pretty large. Unskilled players are the most common, so it would take a long time for that kind of player, to be unable to find a team. Also, they could train in the non-ranked matches.

Gold and below ? This would still not work, nor would something like this ever be a option for LoL a game that holds ESports.

Many country's don't like each other and even have Closed-Borders (no trade routes).. but we as a world still hold the Olympics and everyone gets to compete.

This are still Players / People that you very well could in fact meet on a championship field in one way or another.

Ranked play complaints really wouldn't hold ground knowing your in a ranked game and its a PUG ( put together / random players)

Put together a team to play with, make the friendship's and then go to ranked gaming. This issue was solved 15 years ago during DoTA/DoTa2 and we called it Custom Games. which LOL has.

Your not going to be allowed to BLOCK / Come between ESport related. So ok you blocked them , your not for them , your against them. Now have fun living with the upcoming mess you have created.

Toxic confirmed , and I only stepped into ranked gaming 2 times, 2nd time was to make sure I wasn't seeing things.

You think all these colleges and Ranked teams are 100% nice or want to be your buddy ? Hell no, there just regulated in a regulated environment. used to be a Tier 2 judge in card gaming, trust me, your not about to unregulated a regulated game that clearly advertises ESporting.

Just my2cents, let the toxic trolling begin.

Exactly because it is an eSport game RIOT should be more than willing to make it as non-toxic as possible.

I think we all know the most popular comment for the "LoL in three words comment". This isn't a good advertisement for the game.

Nice so you could just block all the bad players you encounter and not be on the team with them again. Sweet move. Would do wonders for the rankings.
