I personally think that leaver buster is a horrible idea, that only pushes players towards leaving the game, however i do understand the necessity of the idea. My idea is that you could trade honor for less leaver buster time, as honor is supposed to be to honor upstanding members of the game, and if they really want to play, they could diminish that honor.

N0NN00B1 votesOk i did some math and in my experience, you get leaver bustered after 2 games and it increases every one game left. It also takes roughly 50 games to get off leaver buster entirely. Assuming that every game lasts 35 minutes, that would take about 30 hours of nonstop play with no errors causing you to leave the game. If you did leave one game within that 30 hour period, your leaver buster time would double, eventually coming to 20 minutes, 2/3 of an actual game. It also makes it more likely for someone who is trying to just play the game and not leave to be forced to leave, as it turns a short 1/2 hour game into a potential full hour, increasing the time for computer crashes to happen or other things to disrupt gameplay. The entire leaver buster system can create a cycle toxic to normal players that can only be broken by setting aside hours with nothing else. don't you think there should be a way to break that cycle.
AeroWaffle1 votesIt doesn't matter if your computer crashes or if you left intentionally, it still causes the other 4 members of your team to fight at an extreme disadvantage. Leavebuster only triggers once it has become more than just a rare occurrence.
Leavebuster is a message to either;
Stop intentionally leaving or Fix whatever is causing the problem
Your computer crashing is your problem to fix, you shouldn't be making your teammates suffer for it.
N0NN00B1 votesIdk if you are talking about ranked or unranked but i personally i am talking about unranked where you can still have fun with 1 person down. A 100 minute leaver buster sounds a little excessive for leaving a couple games within roughly a 100-200 game period.

I only play unranked. And while it's technically still possible to have fun at an extreme disadvantage, the fun is unlikely as the chances of winning.

Make sure your computer is not on the verge of dying. You probably should be preventing this anyway.
Make sure your internet connection isn't hanging by a thread. Same as above.
If you're unable to dedicate a large amount of time for the game, but still a little, aram or a co-op vs ai would be in order. If you're not sure you can even give that amount of time;
don't queue
Don't leave it up to chance.
N0NN00B1 votesDespite everything that you said previously, it is still up to chance. It isn't up to you whether the game dies for some reason, it is up to riot to troubleshoot problems. It isn't up to you if your computer dies unexpectedly for reasons other than power failure which can happen. It is up to Apple or Windows or whatever computer company you have. It isn't up to you whether your internet connection dies out unexpectedly, its up to your service provider. Your advice of "Don't leave it up to chance" would be great if you could actually control all factors, which sadly you can't. Unless you want people to buy a new computer every time theirs experienced minor issues that would be fine in any other circumstance, or pay more for a better service provider/plan, simply for a video game. These problems don't happen incredibly often, but they can happen enough to get you onto leaver buster repeatedly and maybe get you a long wait time.

Leavebuster does not punish for rare leaves.
