I'd like an explanation?

Prior to reading my chat, understand me and my duo were being flamed the entire game by our bot lane duo queue (2 duo queues in 1 game is a bad idea) and the chat degraded due to us being flamed. It's kind of riot to not provide the ENTIRE chat log of the game, need not worry I record all my games and will add the recording later once the editing is complete and its uploaded. Mind you 90% of the dialog you see is me and my duo queue talking to one another. so it's not aimless complaining, its two players communicating back and forth.

This is based on a 30 minute game where I went 6/8/9 with like 200 CS.

Mind you this is a simple 10 game chat restriction and its pretty irrelevant. I have been trying to refrain of being one of those players who "/mute all" every game, or instantly mutes players. This game kind of got under my skin pretty bad and I'm not trying to condone the two "flamatory" statements I made to my teammate but damn, this is what it takes to get a 10 game chat restriction in these parts?

I will also point out, my account is level 75 and has been around for like 7 years, I've gotten a few chat restrictions over the years and I'm not trying to pretend like I'm a perfect ray of sunshine all the time, but I'm far from "Toxic." If I was "Toxic" I would be banned by now, and wouldn't still be playing the game. I just think Riot is definitely making too many attempts at creating a safe space.

Mind you... I used no hate speech, I made no threats, I didn't claim anyone in the game was "bad" or "awful" or anything of the sort. I truly think the only reason I am chat restricted is because I said "God Damnit" and told him to "shut the fuck up" when he was blaming me and my duo queue incessantly for our loss while he was 0/5 or something.

So no one can say the chat log is doctored or claim i'm hiding something.

(edit: also I'm not here to flame riot, or the system. I made this post hoping for healthy conversation and fingers crossed for the possible response of a riot employee)

The system punishes people based on consistency x toxicity, and here is how the report system works;

  1. System receives a report
  2. System checks the reported for any toxicity and assigns a score (no toxicity = 0 pts)
  3. Add that game's score to the existing toxicity score
  4. If you pass 100 pts, you get punished.

This game is very very VERY mild. So unless you were using severe toxicity in pre/post game screen, it would mean that you would have had many many MANY games of consistent mild toxicity.

where did this information come from, again not flaming you or saying you're wrong. Just curious where you sourced your information from.

I'm not normally overly toxic but mildly toxic sometimes is probably normal for me? idk I dont believe I deserve the punishment but I just dont understand how they came to their conclusion on this one.

hmmm .... I can't seem to find the exact source of it now, but you'll probably be able to spot it if you read between the lines in the Behavior blog you'll be able to see it.

Maybe someone that remembers the exact search keyword can help us out with that.

okay cool, it definitely seems like it's a little too hard to find how this system works. I understand them not putting exact algorithms out there for people, but even a for dummies style explanation would be nice lol.

I certainly don't think my behavior is deserving of a chat restriction, let alone a ban (obviously riot doesnt either considering I've made it 7 or so years lol) I just think we all have bad days and sometimes we spill out into a game and I think they're sort of getting a little too quick to snap that whip on people who are mildly "offensive"

ALSO on another note I was talking to someone the other day who got a 14 day ban while playing flex queue by themselves. I think Riot really needs to think long and hard about letting Duo/Trio queues have so much weight in the reporting system. I ALWAYS duo queue, I never ever solo queue this game unless its a really really blue moon lol. I still think Duo/Trio queue's should not be allowed to each report the same person and still have a 1:1 weight on their reports. I'll probably make another post about this specific topic and try to stir some discussion about it.

The behavioral system can sure use more education.

Premades having more punishment power than solos is also a myth. This one I have a source.

Well that answers that, all though the ability to spam report people and not lose weight in your reports is kinda bleh in my opinion
