In order to meet the standards set by Riot. I must become a punching bag?

I simply refuse to be a victim. I dont go into games insulting people or even cursing out people for making mistakes or misplaying. But when other players are rude to me or actively griefing me i bite back and that is somehow wrong? It takes less than five minutes to read the chat logs and see who instigated a hostile situation. As a jungler whenever a lane is doing poorly its my fault. Doesnt matter how well im doing, how many objectives ive taken or how many lanes ive enabled to win. If one lane feels i shouldve been there more i get flamed. If i priorities counter jungling over ganking. Flamed. If i miss a smite, flamed. The problem is that nobody usually cares unless it affects them. The top laner whos abusive towards me for ganking other lanes is less likely to be reported than a game where the enemy jungler snowballs and carries. Ill get flamed by multiple people and if i dare to bite back i get reported more than once. We arent robots. The expectation shouldn't be on players to have unlimited reserves to patience in the face of spiteful relentless stupidity. Why are reports an investigation of only one player? Every situation is not linear. The whole chat log for the team should be reviewed and the aggressors should be punished. Fighting back and standing up for yourself should never be a punishable offense.

"2 wrongs dont make a right"

"dont fight fire with fire"

"if you cant say something nice, dont say anything at all"

take your pick man, it's a pretty dam simple concept. Fighting back against an online troll LITERALLY DOES NOTHING except give the troll what he wants and makes the game even more annoying for your other team members

be the bigger person

Look. No one cares who started it. No one will ever care in this context. It's not about aggressors or standing up for yourself. It's about derailing the game to argue about stupid shit and not trying to win. It's disruptive to the game if you type "lalalaalalalalala" 1500 times in a match just as much as it's disruptive to the game to watch two fresh 16 yr olds argue about who is hardstuck in Iron. The person flaming you is already polluting the chat with garbage and wasting time typing instead of literally anything else that you're supposed to do to win, and then you start doing the same thing? Now the problem is 2X worse for the other people on your team who just want to play this game and maybe win.

Jungle is unforgiving. My duo partner got all the way to Diamond with jg, and he got shit on and flamed to whole way up. I played jg ONCE in a few months and top and bot both expect me to be in their lanes. Jungle is not a role for people who can't deal with idiots who don't know that you can't be in two places at once. Get used to using your mute button if you wanna keep playing that role.

Oh yeah man, muting the people harassing you makes you a real punching bag. Dman, those unseen punches/words really hurt when they are muted.

Ignore assholes. This is a skill you can apply to real life as well as a video game. Who cares what some idiot thinks in their own head, let them be them. You be you and don't carry their bad mojo with you.

You are free to report anyone you feel is violating the rules, and their chat will be investigated. You do not, however, get to use the fact you reported them as an excuse for your own misbehavior.

While I see your point, you (in defending yourself) are also stooping to their level and causing issues for your team instead of playing

You have to understand that reacting to anger with anger only makes the other person more angry. So instead of helping, you are making the person more likely to continue attacking you verbally. So you aren't doing anything to solve the problem and prevent further attacks

Good god, you make it sound like the mute function is an impossible task to use. It's a simple click of a button. Not rocket science.

The answer is yes, you must become a punching bag. Welcome to League of Legends

Just do what I do. When someone flames me I just send them a ";)". It's not reportable in any circumstance (as confirmed by a Rioter) and they usually just shut up and keep playing after that. It also makes me chuckle :)
