24 game chat restriction right after a 10 game for not saying anything toxic?

I'm still confused, I was being berated all game but didn't say anything half as bad as I've said in the past. I play one game, instant chat restriction afterwards because I was judged as toxic by a 4 queue of players harassing me and saying actually awful things but none of them got restricted or banned from that game. Why was i restricted? item 3070

You are responsible for your own words.

You are not justified in flaming back when someone flames you.

You are justified in muting them.

You are being punished for your words.

You don't have to read very far into these logs to notice what's toxic about this. You call your teammates retard and special needs.

It's important to communicate with your teammates, but this chat is harassing your teammates. Since it was severe and so close to your recent punishment, you were punished again for this game.

It's odd you mention muting players, then proceeded to speak with one.

You can submit a support ticket if you disagree.

That's just a partial "highlight" of your behavior. there's more in the log, but the early part tells enough. You either started a verbal fight, or made one worse. You spent your match arguing, griefing, and harassing your teammates. The fact that you just got done with a 10 game restriction, and went right back to acting like this, means you didn't learn your lesson the first time, and thus the immediate 25-game chat restriction.

This kind of behavior is not acceptable. If you continue to act like this, you're going to be elevated to a 14 day suspension or a permanent ban.

I had to keep trying to play as they followed me around the whole match. You judge off of bias. I understand I should be chat restricted for that but seriously not even a chat restriction on their part shows that the system is flawed as for people who were previously punished get judged harsher.

You don't know that they didn't get a chat restriction -- all we know is that your report wasn't the LAST one that triggered it. They might have gotten one the very next game, or had one queued up from the game before that hadn't hit them yet (since they were in-game at the time).

Punishments increase with each subsequent punishment unless sufficient time has elapsed.

You would normally have gotten a 10-game chat restriction for this, in all likelihood. Since you already had one and then kept up your behavior, your punishment was escalated to a 24-game chat restriction. The next one will be a 14-day ban, followed by a permanent ban.

It's not about the severity of the toxicity -- severe toxicity just can escalate you multiple tiers at once (including up to an immediate permanent ban). Moderate yet frequent toxicity can still earn you a permanent ban if you do not fix your behavior.

Also, a few more comments on things you mentioned!

Two important things that many people are unaware of: firstly, only the first report each game matters. Additional reports accomplish nothing, specifically to avoid this sort of gang-up effect. 1 report carries as much weight as 9 -- all that does is flag the game for review.

As for confirming whether or not someone you reported was punished -- this is something that could definitely be improved upon, but you only get the message if your report was the last one to trigger the punishment. It's possible that someone else in that same got the instant feedback panel, or possible that those players had not been punished before and had a few more reports required to trigger the system. It CAN be really frustrating to not get feedback, but know that the system is pretty efficient -- if they keep that behavior up, it'll catch them -- and probably sooner rather than later.

Thanks for clarifying, I woke up this morning to get the notification that one or more players I recently reported were punished. Not sure if it was them but that's a pretty nice feeling. Thanks for the advice!
