Sick of people insta-locking and claiming they're first while they're not in blind pick

Hey,

I never thought it'd come this far but it has pissed me off so much and happened so often in the past weeks that I had to make this post and ask Riot if they can even do anything about this? Reporting after game seem to rarely help since these players rarely get banned or get any sort of penalty even when they are so toxic in game and have such a bad attitude from the moment you meet them in champ select.

In my case I was in a premade with my friend and decided to play blind pick cuz why not. We enter champ select, we said pre bot and then our roles in bot. (I even said support first in chat) We then realized we were put together with a premade of 3. One of them decided to be that one bad guy with no manners and said "SUPP" and insta locked with a Karma. I already locked in as Sona and my friend locked in with Jhin so we couldn't do anything about it anyway. Of course the friends of that douche had to support him with the false claim that he was first. It also wasn't that he joined the champ select later and couldn't see the chat before he joined. The messages were there for 10 seconds before he sent anything, he simply ignored them or didn't care.

Me and my friend reported him for intentional insta-locking, somewhat feeding and trolling since it was 3 bot, he stole all the farm, flashed randomly etc. He also flamed at me in German, since I'm from Belgium I speak a little German and understood he was insulting my mom, father and tons of other things.

I really hope Riot takes action because I do not tolerate such behavior so many times in a row or an X-amount in a small period of time. At least give this guy some sort of penalty and warning.

  • Drop him in honor level
  • Chat restriction
  • Temp ban
  • Any other not too severe punishment.

I don't have much proof other than a quick screenshot that we joined first, said our roles and that everyone joined the champ select. (Again I was in a hurry since the timer was running out so I took a screenshot in a hurry) I won't post this screenshot unless requested, because I'd like to conserve the privacy of my friend and those people, even though they were douchebags.

Riot can check the champ select logs and the in-game logs if they want to, the proof is all there :)

Blind pick is first come first serve. Person that locks first should get lane. So... i dont see what u complaining about.

I've played League for 3-4 years and all I know is that when I started playing, I also insta-locked, but when I did, people ALWAYS shit on me and I get reported etc. After a few games I decided to do what everyone does, just type your role in chat, if you're first, you get your lane and choose your champ.

Well ,you should have ignored those people and stuck to what you were doing.

I follow the majority of the players rather than following the minority who play like that. I believe that if I continued playing like that, I'd eventually get punished by riot/lose honor levels/be dishonorable.

Well, its not punishable so dont expect others to get banned. You do what you want. Instalocking is allowed, was always allowed and will always be allowed.

But why do most people report these instalockers in the many games I've played and witnessed something like this happen? In future games, who should I support? The person instalocking or the person who said his role first.

Also I'd like to point out that I and my friend said our roles AND locked in our champ already. So our roles were set and we could not change anything. The player that instalocked was aware of this.

People always threaten with reports to blackmail someone into giving them what they want. Just because u get reported , doesnt mean u get punished. Its blind pick. Do what you want. Pick any champion, go to any lane. U are allowed. Thats why blind pick exists. If you want designated roles, Draft pick is for that. In blind pick u can even play 3 bot, 2 mid, 2 top anythingf u want.

Well blame the community for my actions then, because I just go with the flow and don't go against the system the community has created. I do appreciate your opinion and point of view and I see where you are going. I'm just not so sure if the rest of the community will share the same opinion as you.

My point is that it is pretty frustrating sometimes and what others do isn't always justified.

You go with the flow if u want. Just dont expect Riot to ban others for things that arent against rules.

I'm not asking for a ban, I just want some sort of punishment... Not necessarily for insta locking, but more for his toxicity in game which was off the charts. Don't tell me now people are allowed to be toxic and that being toxic is not a reason to report/get punished.

You can get reported/report people like this, but they will not get punished.

"Call order" is not a thing. Blind pick is quite literally free-for-all.

I did not know this and have always played to the standards of the community, I always feared getting banned or anything along those lines for doing this. Thanks for letting me know though!

I just didn't want you to get worried you'd get reported (punished) if you choose something that is off-meta or choose to do like double mid or anything :)

It's always nice to be able to communicate about the game, but it's by no means mandatory, and in fact many people may choose not to because if they start saying "i want to try tryndamere support" or something crazy people will steal their role and/or dodge, so they just take what they want.

You're absolutely right about that. But this one player, the instalocker, should get punished in some way for his random and unjustified toxicity right? Or not?

If they were toxic in chat, yes.

But instalocking in and of itself isn't prohibited nor considered toxic.

In blind pick, 3 bot is perfectly allowed, picking off meta champs/roles is allowed, and it's literally a "free for all". So if they were toxic in chat, yes, they should be punished, but if not, they'd have to be obviously intentionally feeding to get a punishment for going 3 bot in blind.

Well I do not have proof nor have access to the chat of that match, but he was toxic and flamed me and my friend for no reason. And I do understand now that instalocking is no reason to report and punish, I mainly reported for toxicity and just added insta locking to it, which I now know is not a thing to report.

If you really want your role, draft pick is for you. If you go into blind pick, just try to be more flexible, you will have a much better time.

Yeah we played draft pick after that game, the only disadvantage is that the champ you would like to play may get banned. And we've always been flexible, but you're not supposed to be flexible 24/7 either right?

You should always go into Blind Pick prepare to fill regardless of what you call or how many premade you are. This is not a new concept... Of course you always have the option of going 3 people bot, there's no rule against that. Both pre-made will have a bad time, but this is the kind of problem TeamBuilder/Draft Pick solved. I don't see why Rito needs to spend any time on a problem they already solved.

True, but as I stated before in another comment, if you'd really like to play a champion in a specific lane, then you might have a better chance in blind pick since 10 champs get banned in draft pick. On top of it all, do not forget that he flamed and was toxic for no reason only because he didn't get what he wanted and that there was proof of chat etc.

If you want some funny math for the day,

For Draft, there are currently 138 champions in the pool, there are only 10 bans (inclusive). Let's say you are the very last pick and the 10 bans do not include "no ban" or "duplicate ban" (basically the absolute worst case), there is only a 19 in 138 or 13.7% chance in a worst case scenario that the champ you want to play is taken or banned. You will get the role you want in this mode 99% of the time.

For Blind, there are currently only 5 roles with instalocking absolutely allowed, there is a 4 in 5 or 80% chance someone will instalock your role. After that, there is still a 4 in 138 chance or 2.9% chance someone will instalock your champ on top of the 80%.

That's pretty interesting, never saw it in that way. But lets say if I insta-lock in blind pick, I fear it will not be appreciated by others. What should I do then? I really don't feel like dropping in honor level etc. This only a scenario, not saying I'd do this per se, you and the other players who have commented on this thread have successfully convinced me to play more Draft pick already. Thank you for that already! :)

Well you sorta had it coming by playing blind. Draft pick is so much better, but I know it still sucks.
