Got banned for defending myself against toxicity.

So, Today my account was permanently banned from LoL. I am a veteran of this game, having spent over 3,500 hours on the rift, and many thousands of dollars. I enjoy talking to all players of the game, it makes it more exciting, but inevitably a friendly banter like this invites toxicity from other players, and rage reports. Now, I personally don't believe in reporting people; why get someone banned for a few words when the mute button exists.

So, it seems that in Riot's automated ban system, if you get reported, but you don't report the other player, you are placed at fault.

About two months before the honor system came out I got banned for 14 days, and decided to make a change. Since then I have been a model player; honored in literally every single one of my games, endlessly encouraging and positive.

I truly love this game, I love it when I win, and I also love it when I lose: I sincerely believe that if you truly enjoy a game, you can't only enjoy winning, cause then you are missing out on half of the game experience.

I remember the league days where some friendly banter was welcomed, when it made the game more fun, more competitive, more human. Now, it has turned into a system of people no longer playing for fun, but to robotically grind LP. Even in normal games, where the sole purpose is to have a fun game and enjoy it, 90% of teams just surrender as soon as they start losing.

I have many other accounts, some ranked, and I can certainly keep playing if I want to, but I really do feel cheated of my investment in this game, in this community.

I truly love this game, and although I was permabanned only half an hour ago, I already miss the connection I had with this game.

I love you League of Legends, for being my friend for years, and for creating so many new friendships and bonds in my life.

I am not expecting a response, or any action on behalf of the creators of my all time favorite game. I just wanted to tell my story.

Above all, I wanted to thank you Riot Games, despite current events. Thank you Rito, for more than 5 years of time well spent. Thank you Riot, your brainchild has changed the world.

Looks like I finally got completely outplayed lol. GG, Well played Riot Games, Good Bye

if you get reported, but you don't report the other player, you are placed at fault

No one side is placed at "fault" for a toxic argument, each individual is always responsible for their own behavior. If Player A says something toxic and Player B responds with something toxic, they were both toxic. If you choose not to report the other person for their behavior that's up to you, but it doesn't mean you're off the hook for what you said.

All it takes is one report to flag your behavior for review, so as long as anyone submits a report the person reported will be reviewed; what's important here is not simply that they got reported, but what their behavior was like. Severe and frequent negative behavior will be punished, but everyone is a little toxic occasionally and you don't get punished if it's not that bad or frequently like that.

As the others said, posting the chat logs you got in your reform card will help us understand your situation so we can discuss this more appropriately.

Chat logs.

Also, you don't get banned for one defense against toxicity. You get banned for a history of bad attitude.

If you want to discuss the Ban we need your chatlogs.

I disagree about having reported the other player means blame is not placed on you. I received a chat ban for defending myself and in both cases where I was being flamed and trolled I also reported the other parties.

First game I get a WW calling me a Dirty "F", and a Fn "N". Then trolled me by swiping my first wave, and continued on flaming me all game. The MF in the game joined in and kept telling me to KYS, and I spent the game being called dirty "N" by both of them.

Of course I eventually tilted, even after I muted them my team would be typing back what they were saying basically to tell them to stop saying it etc.

I had another game where a troll lux goes bot to "adc" you know how that goes. I was Ivern, I could not do anything for the lane. It was Lux/Janna against Ashe/Zillian. On loading they see I had honor flash and comment "how did you get that so fast, I'm going to report you so you lose it"

I was flamed all game, she basically called everyone trolls threatens to report and then informs me the Janna and her are on Voice together so they will report.

needless to say I was in a good game later as Azir working on my last blue token, doing well 5/0/10 with 234cs and I go to type and get " you have exceeded your msg limit "

Ergo, chat banned... my morale went straight down I die to the lee and lose my chance for the token... all because of the msg and being trolled by shitty people in my previous games.

I rarely say anything in game except, "Good Job", "Nice Job" etc... "thanks"

I get two shit games with people who were there to troll and I am chat banned and lose my lvl 3 honor.

There is no real justice in this game, not when there are people with nothing better to do than duo troll match ups so they can team up and harass good players and duo report them.

To be fair people have a different definition of what Friendly Banter is. Ive been on this forum loads of times to know that to some, that includes racial slurs, or flat out telling people to kill themselves over a game because "its just word" If you cannot understand that to some people that does hurt, then sadly life is going to be difficult if you think thats perfectly normal.

Its the same as in real life. When people get into an argument, 9 times out of 10 it will result into something physical. Granted in this game since we dont know each other it doesnt get that serious, but we should still treat it as such. Remember this is a game, suppose to be used to enjoy and relax. Some people take it very serious and some take it causally, but still everyone is treated the same, because for this game we are all equal. Its when you take it to far, or are just negative overall that you end up getting punished.

You already explain you gotten 14 day ban, which should have told you to keep your cool as the next punishment is a permban, no matter how small your toxic behavior is. You shouldnt be toxic in the first place, but you thought you could be above the law. All in all you have no one to blame but yourself. Maybe on your next account (if you decide to make another) you will learn from this, but judging by your post you will probably continue to blame the system.

Its funny when people think that insulting someone who is insulting you is okay... you even pointed out there is option to mute toxic player but you went for toxic response instead.. Also if you got banned for it, im sorry to tell you that wasnt friendly banter. Perma bans are usually reserved for worst kinds of flame including homophobia, racism and suggesting for another player to kill himself

Dude i am sorry, i hope you get unbanned. And the ban system is fucking disgusting yes. There is a difference between being naturally toxic and inting in a game or two.
