Riot Games CEO Community Trust Guilty Of Boosting

Disgusted. Downloading Overwatch as I type this:

From underpaid casters to over controlling internal politics to its cult-like business culture to the current state of the LCS. This guy (Marc Merrill - CEO) has single handedly built an empire and now is sitting back while it burns to the ground.

The LCS is dying a slow and painful death and the team owners are the ones bleeding out. Riot is using the LCS Orgs to promote and grow a league that it has sitting on the back burner - all to make personal profits from skin sales and in game purchases. Riot has admitted in the past that it uses the LCS as an advertising platform to sell in game product. This isn't fair to the people who are investing huge amounts of money into this league while Riot is the only one making a profit. The system Riot has in place for this league is absolutely ridiculous.

The icing on the cake though: Marc Merrill admits to account sharing in order to elo boost his own account? Hahaha! How insecure are you? You are a millionaire. Who F'N cares what your elo is. This just proves how much of a demented individual this guy actually is. He preaches about "The Summoner's Code" and whatever other bullshit he believes and then just turns around, whips out his cock and pisses all over it! Hahaha

Riot your whole cult culture has been shattered into a million pieces. This is proves everyone has always known. Your leader is a power hungry insecure F'ed up individual who, to be honest, creeps me the f*ck out. Anyways....

All good things come to an end. RIP Riot.

This post and the people replying remind me of an old lady's facebook conspiracy that Obama is a muslim and everyone that replies is equally naive.

Your IGN is awfully ironic.

  • LCS is anything but dying, but you can keep thinking that if it helps you sleep at night.

  • You can play both Overwatch and League, in fact, I do that all the time. They aren't mutually exclusive.

  • Riot is actually fixing a lot of those things that you are complainging about here

  • If the LCS is dying, why did the 76'rs buy Apex and Dig? In the interview they say that E-sports is literally one of the fastest growing markets to date, especially with TV viewership dying.

  • If you actually look at the article that you post, they literally say that it wasn't for ELO boosting that everyone was bitching about, it was the account sharing that happened for 1 game 6 years ago. He fined himself 10,000 dollars. The community was fine and all but forgot about it hours after it happened.

  • Monte is mad about not getting paid more for MSI, He is under contract with OGN which hosts several esports venues, including overwatch which is what Monte will probably go to. Casters under the LCS (eu and na) are salaried employees, since this is a special event, they get bonuses. If Riot had paid Monte more to cast MSI, then that wouldn't be fair to the other casters.

  • League of Legends is still the most popular game by far in the world. It out ranks every other pc game including Overwatch, which was supposed to overtake League in number of players. Not only does League have the most unique player IDS played, they also spend the most amount of time playing this game.

TLDR: you're full of shit and you're salty and looking for a reason to hate Riot, and guess what, you found it.

You forgot the part he fined himself for $10,000 to avoid the ban.

ROFL ive been saying this for years RIOT IS ALL GREED NO BRAINS and this is just more proof but not for long they will brush this away too just like everything else

Its his game, he can do what he wants... Why would he even elo boost? He can just add any ELO to himself.

As I've said many times, the CEO (Beck) and co-founder (Merril) are greedy assholes, and do not give a damn about anything but money. Their game is irrelevant, so long as they make money.

Having read through the article, while I don't agree with or support the fact that he did in fact elo boost or the fact that it took this long for him to admit publicly that he did do it, at the very least he came out now and admitted it (albeit it in the face of overwhelming evidence but still though) and even willingly fined himself $10k as well.

Does that change the fact that he Elo Boosted? No, it doesn't. Does it say that he's at least willing to admit his mistakes when presented with overwhelming evidence? Yes, I'd say so.

Yeah, he elo boosted, but he did fine himself.

What do you want him to do? He inflicted a steeper punishment on himself then on any other elo boosted person.

Meh, I mean, I knew Marc Merill really wasn't a smart/good guy (watched the videos and how he sees the eSports scene), but I also have heard that at the time he was getting boosted, apparently a lot of people were doing this (Check out a video by Scarra called "Beyond the Rift" I think it's episode 8 or 9 when they talk about it) and imaqtpie and Scarra both made some pretty good points about it. Personally though, I really don't care.

Either way, I don't care.. can't afford overwatch.. but I'm going to Gigantic when it releases..
