Proper Disconnect Etiquette

What is the proper way to handle an early disconnect that makes the game impossible to win?

I understand when it's a late game disconnect, or those certain situations where you can over come the disadvantage. Any time I try to talk people into forfeiting its like they instantly want to spite me and not forfeit. It is beyond frustrating to get an disconnect, but then to have to play through the game for 30 minutes to slowly lose the game. People think because they are winning their lane that it's all ok. Failing to realize the situation we will be in after 15 minutes. I want to just leave the game on so many occasions after the first failed vote, but I stay. I feel if I don't, I risk getting reported for afk. Why would anyone want to queue up to play through a losing game for 30 minutes or get reported?
