between this (your massive ego-centrism), your constant passive-aggressive sarcastic chat, and most likely a manual review of your playing ingame most likely led to your ban. Also I'm almost positive you have more chat logs you're not providing here.

Hopefully when you grow up, you'll realize the world does not revolve around you, and that other people matter, and to be more humane, compassionate and chill as a human being. Until then, good luck with your new account(s).

i dont think it deserves a permanent ban. just a long to permanent chat restriction.

if he/she is playing to win still it could easily be solved by removing his/her ability to chat.

They had previous restrictions and failed to modify their toxic behavior; therefore they are warranted a permanent ban for failing to follow the Summoner's Code. Riot isn't here to baby players, they give everyone plenty of warnings and lee-way before getting rid of accounts, and they're not about to remove a part of the game just because some kids can't control themselves from verbal diarrhea

i dont see why not? a huge majority of the playerbase is teen kids. just because the kids that it was designed for grew up refused to move out of their parents basements and still play league doesnt mean that they should shun the next generation.

this isnt some inclusive cult. it's a game. i agree with banning players who cheat, but kicking out players who talk too much and say stupid things is just ignorant. half or more of the boards would be banned.

chat isnt a crucial mechanic. if it was i could report players for not speaking my language.

It's really not that hard to understand, Riot sets the rules, the rules say to be civil and respectful of other players. We're all human here, trying to have fun and play a game. There's literally no need to be demeaning, toxic, grief, or an asshole whatsoever, at any moment in the game. It's uncalled for, it's rude, and it shows an extreme lack of humility and emotional maturity. Just because someone's a kid, does not give them a free pass to being ignorant of how society works and not adjusting their attitude to better reflect that of a mature person. In Riot's game, either you learn, or you get removed. No one wants an asshole. Also, no one is ever banned for just "talking too much"; they are banned for "talking too much garbage" -- and the "stupid things" you mention are also "toxic things". No one who says things that are within the guidelines and boundaries that Riot has set forth ever gets a penalty or a ban, only those who violate their ToS and do things to grief or harass other players.

a champion skin can cost anywhere from 5-30 american dollars. most players who actually enjoy this game spend anywhere from 50 - 100+ in a year on this game.

when that is taken away it is literally like taking a child out and shooting their laptop for them failing to pass a class in school.

Alright, let's say it is. The player receives 3 punishments and several report warnings until then. So they had plenty of warning a permaban can be coming.

Not only that, Riot is not your dad. Riot doesn't talk to your guidance consular and find out what is going wrong.

here's another analogy for you then

a 20 year old man driving drunk down the interstate wayyyy too fast loses control of his vehicle and kills the passenger of the car in the oncoming lane as well as the passenger in his own car suffering serious life-threatening injuries.

he should be sentenced to death right?

You are equating a League account banned because the player is being toxic to child abuse and murder.

  3. no. i want a game where the punishments are fair, rules are clearly expressed, and players are actually willing to invest money into an account without fear of losing that account due to an error or misconception.

this elevated tier BS is just that - BS. if a player calls someone a name in in-game chat why should they be treated exactly the same as someone who steals passwords and uses botting programs? that's not helping anyone. deleting a players account doesnt teach them to be a better person. it encourages them to make another account solely for the purpose of berating other players and trying to force punishments onto them that are undeserved out of sheer resentment. it doesnt protect the other players because there's no punishment even involved in that system other than just refusing to allow someone to use the content they've paid for. all that does is teach someone not to buy content - duh?

the system is flawed so much and it's just appalling to someone like me who sees players refusing to treat each other with dignity and then a system that encourages them to lock themselves in their rooms and shut out all of the outside world and lash out at anyone who isnt a part of the system. it's both disgusting and wrong.

for a simplified version of what i think the punishments should be like i think it should be like this

AFK/DC - Low priority Queue

inappropriate chat conduct - chat suspension

inappropriate game conduct - low priority queue/suspension

unauthorized programs/cheating/hacking/fraud - suspension/ban

offensive summoner name - randomly generated name

right now it's

griefing = ban verbal abuse = ban intentional feeding = ban AFK = suspension cheating = ban summoner name = suspension and ban

and the sad part is that it's overly complicated and still fails to achieve the goal it's set out to achieve. IT'S NOT THAT DIFFICULT RIOT - JEEZ. there are 2 ways a player can ruin someone else's experience through words or through actions. words are less harmful than actions - that's kindergartner knowledge! yet for whatever reason the values of these 6 things are not distributed with that in mind!

permanently banning someones account from the game for swearing at someone does not solve the problem. never has and never will.

Riot isn't in the business of teaching children how to be mature, that's the job of the parent(s), an educational system, and social involvement.

Also, words are not less harmful than actions; sometimes words cut deeper than something done.

Also, just because you feel something makes sense, doesn't mean it makes sense from an objective point of view. What you're doing is called a subjective point of view.

I'll grant you that I think Riot needs to make the punishment rules a bit clearer in terms of what is and what is not punishable; perhaps some sort of cheat sheet page on their website or support portal; otherwise their system is pretty fair and balanced.

Extreme and excessive toxicity and griefing will escalate to a 2-week or permanent suspension, and cheating/botting is straight to permaban, but for most players you are given a few 'strikes' before you're 'out', in the form of chat restrictions and the 2-week suspension, along with a reform card to give you a sample of what you said that was toxic.

Honestly here I think Riot could clear things up better for players by highlighting the specific parts of a chat log in which they were toxic, with hyperlinks to the cosponsoring entry on their support portal for that type of behavior.

the very moment you create a product the involves social mechanics and require individual to use said mechanics you're teaching moral discipline - whether you want to or not.

a word will never pull the trigger to a gun. only an impulsive finger will. words are not worse than actions.

whether it's objective or subjective there has to be some form of logic behind it whether rational or irrational. to say that what i'm saying is 100% illogical is also subjective from your point of view - unless you think you share the same view as the view of the majority in which case that doesnt automatically make your view morally right if you are and even more than that it makes you look egotistical and all knowing.

im glad we agree on something, but i disagree with your cheat sheet method. there doesnt need to be a cheat sheet. there needs to be more clarity and function to the rules. 3 (and possibly more) of the words used are videogame jargon that was created within the last decade for crying out loud. that's not very professional.

a strike system is a lazy system that fails to promote reform and takes the easy way out. period. reform needs to be the focus - not removal. removing a player from the game just encourages them to never spend money on the game and to keep making new accounts. those reform cards are a joke because even riot employees have a hard to interpreting the ambiguous rules so most of it is just an over-emotionalized reaction/decision instead of a point by point investigation with a final conclusion and punishment

they used to do that. what happens is the player who posted his/her modified passive aggressive chat logs would be berated by everyone and it was essentially a witch hunt for that player from that day forward. in other words no they shouldnt. it turns out poorly.

16 to 30. 60% are in college or have been in college. So the majority are not teen kids.

I'm still waiting for a source that says that of those 85% - 20-30+ year olds make up 51% of the total demographic.

16-19 = still teenagers

so unless 16-19 makes up less than 36% of the total demographic then i'm not wrong.

Unless it is the ass kissing of your teammates, riot does not want it in the chat. The competitive nature of this game attracts people like you and I who don't play the game for fun and the lulz, and all riot wants is feel good lulz, and unless you are a sponsored and paid for esports competitor your so called competitive nature (toxicity) is not welcome.

Being competitive does not automagically give you some natural right or power to be toxic to people; you're just being toxic because you want to be.

There's a difference between friendly banter and taunting, and harassment/griefing/toxicity. Unfortunately you and many others do not understand or care about that fine line between the two, and tend to cross over into unsportsmanlike conduct more than not.

When you grow up and learn how to be a humbler, kinder, empathetic, understanding human being, then you'll understand that difference. Until then, I suggest you work toward a higher level of emotional maturity through book knowledge, world knowledge and finding the time to appreciate your friends, family and life itself. Emotional maturity takes time usually, and some never reach it, but it is possible if you first are willing and understand that you are flawed, as is everyone else in the world.

I am 28, have a great career, and a girlfriend who loves me. I am grown up. I think its hilarious that you automatically make assumptions about my personal life without any insight. I really just hate people who are idiots, and most of the people who are in competitive environments hate them too. There is no excuse for ignorance anymore. I love how you are virtue signaling too "once you become XXXXXXX" that I think are good traits for a human.

They are good traits to have because they are good traits. Everyone should endeavor to have things like humility, kindness, empathy, compassion and minimize the 'baser' ones like pride, ego, jealousy, disdain, et al. It's what makes us better humans and better people.

Emotional maturity/intelligence is not something that automatically happens as you age. Being 28, having a career and having a girlfriend does not magically mean you are emotionally mature; those are all material, "external" things. You could just as easily be an asshole to your coworkers, abusive to your girlfriend, and still have the mindset of someone 10 years your junior. For example, there are people (statistically the majority being male) that are in their twilight years and still are immature when it comes to emotions and how they interact/think about other people/life. Emotional maturity doesn't come from without, it comes from within the self. It comes through patience, understanding your flaws, and a willingness to change your negative behavioral patterns.

Also your attitude is most definitely not allowed in most competitive environments that have rules and regulations on sportsmanship, either. Just because someone is playing a game poorly, or isn't as proficient as you or others, does not make them stupid -- only not at the same level of ability. We are all flawed human beings, and make mistakes just as easily as anyone else. By criticizing and judging others through your own arbitrary sense of accomplishment and thinking they are somehow less than you, you're essentially feeding into a egoistic, self-aggrandizing sense of superiority.

Ugh.. such passive aggressive, petty bullshit. The game doesn't revolve around you buddy. Just play, try your best, try to keep your team morale up- or at least be neutral- and don't patronize and belittle your allies. It's easy. Definitely needed a punishment just to open your eyes to how much the community disapproves of this kind of chat behavior.

It doesn't matter. If he was perma banned for this it was not the 1st time. He's been chat restricted, warned, 2 week ban. I mean how many times does the company need to tell you to get your shit together before you do. Yes anyone can have a game where they get sick of people talking or feeding, but when you have done it enough to warrant a perma ban I think you really need to take a minute and look at it. Hell swear out load at home call them names rage all you want, but don't sit there and type it out.

It's not hard to just play the game get through it and move on.
