Buying Accounts

Hi. So I've noticed that towards the high-gold/low-plat elo, there seems to be a lot of accounts that were clearly bought. Either that, or there is something weird going on with the player, which is entirely possible. For example, I load into a game recently that had all gold players from last season, mostly gold 2 or higher. Our Irelia has a plat border and I actually get excited over the fact that I have a chance to see a solid player in top. Well, she feeds 0/5 before 7 minutes and players like she's in Bronze 5 for the rest of the game and trolls. I check on LoL King and notice she's dropped SO much in the way of MMR over the past few weeks it's ridiculous. To me, this is a tell-tale sign of purchasing an account.

I know this is against the rules of League, but honestly, how is it stopped? Anyone have any stories to share about having a blatantly purchased account in their game?

"Clearly bought?" What formula did you use to determine this exactly? I am certain even the pros have off days.

Illegally purchased accounts can happen. Riot deals with them. How they do so is something Riot won't tell you. They don't want internal procedures made public lest those that abuse the game adapt and make themselves harder to detect. Just report them. Riot will deal with it if the report is true. But be aware of the reverse: false reports work against you even if they are well meant.

Ye but have u noticed that game Irelia (Plat V) played and went 0:5, she was facing Plat IV Gnar. Gnar has 50 Gnar games last season, Irelia has 15. Have u also noticed that its Irelias worst game in last 10 games? Guy probably thought that even tho he is inexperienced with Irelia, Guinsoo Rageblade will carry her. What she failed to realize is that Guinsoo isnt that strong, if u arent very skilled on champ u are buying it.

I am sure people buy accounts and what not but that is not the case. Some people go on tilt when getting behind in lane. In addition, it doesn't appear that person is a top lane main. People have bad games sometimes. And their Lolking clearly doesn't show a rapid decrease in MMR.

I made another account for the preseason and just recently got him to 30 so I can do some ranked. The account started in Silver 2 and is up to Gold 5 atm, and appears to be about Gold 2 ELO right now. Seeing people with plat borders at this stage is usually a bad sign because it means their ELO has tanked, which suggests they got lucky to get up to plat or were possibly boosted/bought account. Obviously it's not always the case, perhaps they just haven't played in months and are a little rusty etc.

But still, it doesn't exactly bring me comfort :p. Honestly I'd rather see people with silver borders in gold/plat elo because it means they have been having success lately.

As far as stopping it, that's on Riot. They seem to do a decent job at catching boosted accounts, and might have a similar system for purchased accounts. These players may also be legitimate season 5 plat players who are just doing poorly in the preseason as well. These things happen. Try not to let it get to you.
