Request for Unbanning

Despite me telling my friends this will not happen i told them i would request my account back. It has been a long time since i was banned (approx. 1 year and 3 months) I have been refraining from rage in other games and my friends would like me to return to League of Legends. I was wondering if i could be unbanned and put on a "parole" of sorts. I fully understand my language and toxicity was wrong and rude and when you get down to it, awful. Regardless of how others act i should not stoop to their level. I do not expect Riot Games or the mods to unban me, i dont expect to be forgiven, but i would enjoy being allowed to play the game and hopefully show everyone that i can be a better person (as i truly think i have become) and a better player as well. If i am allowed to return, sportsmanship will be my #1 priority.

I'm afraid that at this time Riot does not unban accounts, nor is there any sort of "parole" or "reformation" program aside from the limited (and no longer accepting applicants) experiment they ran late last year.

I am aware, but i am a firm believer in that people can change, especially when given a year to think about their actions and develop their attitudes into something better for themselves, and the games that they play. I only did this at the request of my friends, and i understand Riot's stance on the matter of bannings, and to an extent i somewhat support that stance, however i also believe a system where players can be reformed would be a great addition to the game! People can and do learn from their mistakes.

thanks! ill probably not do that as i put over 1,000$ into the game and have alot of cosmetics. plus if you get banned on one account i feel like its wrong to just make another. It doesnt help yourself and it doesnt help the game base.

So, people make this claim a lot when talking about “criminal justice reform” (i.e. suggesting that there be no penalties such as death or life without parole - i.e. everyone getting a parole option). The issue is that people cannot get special treatment over others. It is not fair for one person to get a “second chance” (in reality a third, fourth, or more chance) when another doesn’t. Thus, you have to give everyone a chance if you give one person one.

And that sounds great, until you realize that most people who are toxic and get permanently banned will not reform. 95% of people “fail” when given this “second chance”. Thus, to give you a chance like this requires them to give hundreds of other players another chance, and that will only let hundreds of toxic players ruin more games.

that makes sense. In the event of a parole system though i think that truly toxic players would be re-banned almost immediately, where as people who actually want to reform, or actually have changed their attitudes would prove the system can work.

They would, yes. Sometimes after only one or two games.

However, is that one or two games, times 95% of players, worth the 5% of players who may actually reform? Hundreds of games ruined just because some people “deserve” a second chance? How many “second chances” are too many, keeping in mind that most players get multiple (3+) chances before they are permanently banned?

I think this is the type of conversation that needs to happen (the one we are having right now) i think it is worth it. Alot of the world right now is negativity and one against another and people dig their heels in and dont want to change, and its important to see those who do want to change, recognize them, and promote growth. I was one of those people who got multiple chances, i was an immature, angry college student, going through a rough time. And now, 1 year later, i feel as though i am in a better place, and have a better attitude towards the game, as well as other games. much like myself a year ago, everyone has a bad day, and it isn't right to spread toxicity on this platform because im having a bad day, OR someone else is having a bad game.

much like in game, the best thing we can do is encourage others to do better, and promote growth as a player.

But the problem is that you are (and most players are) but a very minimal source of income for Riot. You are asking for each player to have many man-hours spent “verifying” if they actually want to change. That’s not feasible. Thus, the only option is for Riot to monitor after unbanning, which results in ruined games.

The issue with this is that yes, promoting growth and reform is great - and it’s why Riot gives players so many chances before permabanning them. Riot is of the opinion, as are most players, that by the time you’re permanently banned, it’s not worth the more ruined games to give you more chances.

It (in my opinion) doesnt take a lot of man power. You wouldnt even have to moderate a game. If a "paroled" player is reported, they need simply to do as they always do. Review the report, verify the player's wrong doing, and reban them. I think a lifetime ban is excessive for toxicity as toxicity is a redeemable offence. Instead of 2 week ban warnings, they should be longer. really hammer in that Riot is serious about toxicity. But suspensions and aren't a good way to reform players. It would be better to force players to take toxicity courses, or attempt to teach players a better way of reacting to people who aren't having such hot games, OR how to react to intentional feeders, or intentional throwers.

I think in cases such as mine, where a player is toxic in the face of a player who is intentionally feeding and throwing, toxicity is NOT OKAY but a chance to better yourself is appropriate. I would like to change the opinion Riot holds by being an example of someone who can be reformed.
