Skipped first 2 warnings and went straight to a 14 day ban, because of this.

These are the chat logs. The only bad things I said were "auistic %%%got" "fuck you", but after that I said I was joking. Those were the only 2 things I said that were bad the entire game in my opinion. I don't think that this is worth skipping the 2 chat restrictions, and going straight to a 14 day ban. I think that they should at least giving me the chat restrictions first, then went on to a 14 day ban.

%%%% shows that it is against Riot rules and falls under the category of Hate speech. Riot has a zero tolerance of this. It does frequently escalate to an immediate 14-day ban. It doesn't matter if you were joking or not. It could have been your best friend that you were talking to. ZERO tolerance. If you really want to dispute it then fill out a support ticket.

After the ban is served I would suggest shouting your mouth and saying only necessary things. Like calls for plays. Because you will be on thin ice where 1 derogatory thing that comes out of your mouth may result in a perma.

I know, but to skip the first 2 warnings and go straight to a 14 day ban for saying 2 things, and after I said I was joking. That's pretty ridiculous.

So thats all you need to do is just say/type jk and that should mean you are ok to break the rules? You knew the rules when you read the ToS/Summoners Code. You accept these ToS every time you patch the game. Why exactly does one need a warning to know stuff like this is never acceptable to say? Once you get into the real world you'd might have to learn the hard way about stuff like this. Try going into work and calling people "autistic %%%got" see how fast they'll fire you. Or even just going into a store and yelling derogatories and see how fast they'll trow you out. Just claiming you are joking isnt going to help you case. Its not a "get out of jail free" card. You are as worse as those fake "prank" people who basically scream "its just a prank" and that should mean its ok to break the law.

This is the definition of zero tolerance. We have actually seen players permanently banned immediately for this sort of behavior, so in some ways you are actually lucky.

you probably skipped straight to 14 day ban base on previous history of being banned

Lmfao, "<removed by moderation>" You know this is a game online right? You understand this isn't real life right? Wtf.

You got it all backwards. I'm making fun of the people who think there's no such thing as oversensitivity. In my opinion, you should be able to say almost anything you want. I mean, there's no speech police who ban you from talking if you use hate speech against people in real life. If people don't like what you're saying they just don't talk to you. Riot gave us a mute button for a reason, I'm not sure why everyone hates using it.

If you called someone a autistic %%%got in real life, the consequences could be a lot worse than just being banned for 14 days. Just because there's no law against being a rude asshole doesn't mean society itself doesn't punish you. You can easily;

Lose your job get thrown out of the establishment you're in fail to be hired (if you are applying somewhere where the interviewer knows about your behavior) be excluded by those you've insulted from future events etc

This falls under the, "get thrown out of the establishment you're in".

You're assuming we're talking about saying these things in a professional environment. Obviously, you'd be punished severely for saying these things in a workplace/school/etc. I'm not naive enough to think that you can say whatever you want, whenever you want. I'm college-aged, so I can't comment on a workplace environment, but I have seen and heard both protesters and regular people say vile things all over campus without a single punishment. This includes anti-Muslim demonstrations during the height of the election season. My point is, League is not a professional environment. If someone called me a fucking n****r on the street, I could go up to them and start a fight, but I'm pretty sure the law would not be on my side once the police showed up. If someone said the same thing to me at work, I'm sure HR would have some sort of procedure to take care of it. The context is important in situations like this.

I agree on most points except a couple.

For many jobs, your behavior outside of the job can still affect your job. Almost every company in the world cares about their public image and don't like having an employee that could smear it by being associated with that employee.

The main importance is the established rules of behavior of the location that you're in. You as an individual don't get to decide what is appropriate behavior or what isn't, the society that you're in does. Riot, as well as a vast majority of players, has deemed it required to be civil to your fellow players.

While I agree that it's your surroundings that set the rules, I don't think that the rules are always necessarily fair. I'm not advocating for spewing racial slurs at people, but I'm just asking you to consider the idea that Riot may be wrong with their rules, the same way that many countries across the world have countless unfair laws.

AeroWaffle1 votes

But Riot is not wrong with their rules. It's their rules that they are free to make so long as it's within the bounds of the law. This isn't like a country where people are forced to adhere to the rules even if they didn't want to. This is a game where people are free to not play it. A person living in a country cannot just leave on a whim if they don't like the rules there.
