14 day ban

Èndless··2 votes·2,046 views

I have a received a 14 day ban with out receiving any prior punishments like chat restrictions, this is also my first time being punished in at least 2 years of not longer and I’m confused why I did not get any of the first steps of the ramping punishment system with my prior good behavior over a long period of time for having a bad day of league of legends like many of us have had.

Any form of Harassment, insult, threats or slurs is not tolerated by Riot. Also, it doesn't work like that. You get 4 chances for your account in general time of use. After 14 day ban, which is your last chance before a permanent ban. Just follow the summoner's code, bud. You'll be fine if you keep to the code.

You can say it doesn't work like that. Yet there have been three threads tonight where accounts were escalated straight to 14 day ban for calling someone a f****t. Which is stupid.

Zombie Gerbil2 votes

Doubt these threads are accurate due to denial. In my opinion. And it does work like that, always have. Most of these players don't even read the Term of Use nor know what The Summoner's Code is.

First offense: 10 game chat restriction Second offense: 25 game chat restriction Third offense: 2-weeks ban Fourth offense: Permanent ban

But it's not up for us to determine if these threads are accurate or not. That's between the player and Riot.

Applesaucey1 votes

Well at least one of them is accurate as I was the op. I got put straight to the 14 day ban for calling someone a f**got. no prior steps. And if you look around the fucking arbiters are saying that is "working as intended" because 14 day ban is 100% a appropriate response for calling someone a %%%got.

Zombie Gerbil1 votes

Well as I said that is not up to me or anyone else to determine but Riot. However as for these slurs, before ANYONE downloaded the game everyone to agreed to Section 5. Code of Conduct in section 5.1. in Term of Use That NO ONE is permitted to flame or harasses a player in any shape or form and WE ALL agreed to follow The Summoner's Code.

Kingslayër1 votes

Funny thing is I didnt call anyone a f##t, actually I was called a f##t. Our top laner was flaming me for who knows what and ended up taking it into all chat. The enemy team wanted to know what happened and so I explained to them he called me a f##t, now I'm banned for 14 days.

Applesaucey1 votes

One of many reasons why an auto 14 day ban for simply typing a word is fucking retarded.

Zombie Gerbil2 votes

Hey, I'm just following the rules and The Summoner's Code. I like playing this game, so I'd never take that risk. No matter how frustrated I get.

Applesaucey1 votes

The summoners code is a load of shit. It is horribly vague and there is 100's of things that you can do to violate it and ruin people games way worse then calling someone a f**got and you will never get banned for any of them.

Zombie Gerbil1 votes

That's not true at all. It's all very simple really.

Summoner's Code

  • SUPPORT YOUR TEAM
  • DRIVE CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK (without insulting)
  • FACILITATE CIVIL DISCUSSION
  • ENJOY YOURSELF, BUT NOT AT ANYONE ELSE'S EXPENSE
  • BUILD RELATIONSHIPS
  • SHOW HUMILITY IN VICTORY, AND GRACE IN DEFEAT
  • BE RESOLUTE, NOT INDIGNANT
  • LEAVE NO NEWBIE BEHIND!
  • LEAD BY EXAMPLE

I mean, you don't have to follow all of them to the letter. But you get a general idea, just don't be mean or don't purposely try to ruin the game. I mean if anything, just mute the players if you can't handle the way people are talking. But you have to follow the rules the term of use, which is the summoner's code.

Applesaucey1 votes

DRIVE CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK (without insulting)

like i said vague. First of all go ahead and try to define constructive feedback in any ways that is reliably enforceable. Then follow that by attempting to define insult in a reliable enforceable way. And it mentions nothing about the fact that calling someone a shitter is okay most of the time, but if you call someone a f**got better prep your ass for that insta 14 day ban.

General Esdeath 1 votes

Not hard to follow that one at all. Instead of saying

"My jungler is fucking garbage kys"

you could say

"Hey Udyr, I think you should gank my lane instead of middle. You can't gank a Kassadin very well because his ult counters your Bear Stance. Teemo up here has no flash and is out of mana, free kill!"

Applesaucey1 votes

Except both of these will result in udyr reporting you, flaming you and continuing to play like trash. And do the second one enough and people will report you enough for the auto ban system to hand you down a restriction. Even if anyone with half a brain would see it clearly is constructive.

General Esdeath 2 votes

Udyr can report me until his mouse stops working, but the second one won't end in a punishment. The autoban system scans words. What word(s) in the second would land me a ban? Please, tell me. I've talked like that, but shorter of course to save time and last hit creeps, and I have yet to get punished in my 5 years of playing League.

Applesaucey1 votes

I dare you to make a comment like that in every game. You will be reported in atleast 50% of them for it and with that sheer volume of games your being reported in the system will auto ban you.

General Esdeath 2 votes

I don't think you know how this works at all. I could report you in EVERY game, and you don't say a word. The system will scan, see nothing, and say "The person in question has done nothing wrong, no punishment given". The system doesn't ban based on number of reports, it bans by scanning for certain words.

Applesaucey1 votes

Except that is blatantly false. If you go back to when the system first debuted you will see there were plenty of cases where it handed out punishment to people who weren't saying anything in chat. If you get reported in a game it scans chat looking for something bad. If it doesn't find shit it doesn't count as a full black mark but its presence isn't non existent either. Accumulate enough games where your reported even if it doesn't find shit in chat and it will still ban your ass. the intention being for it to attempt to catch people who troll without saying anything. But it 100% could be abused to get someone banned who is just giving constructive feed back which is something this shitty goddamn community would do.

General Esdeath 1 votes

How far back are we talking here? Which system?

Èndless1 votes

So there is evidence that you can get auto banned with out chat restriction even if you haven't gotten in punishment since season 3?

General Esdeath 1 votes

That's hate speech, which is why. Riot has a zero-tolerance policy towards that.

Applesaucey1 votes

Calling someone a f**got is not hate speech anywhere online except for riots special little bubble.

General Esdeath 1 votes

OK, then go on the following websites and say it and let me know how it goes:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Instagram
  • Tumblr
  • Reddit

Come back in a week and let me know which of those hasn't resulted in a punishment

Curious, is it a total of 4 strikes period. Or do they consider the amount of time passed since a person was banned and whatever kind of good behavior as a mitigating factor?

Zombie Gerbil2 votes

We all normally get 4 strikes in our general term of use of our account. And no, they don't write off strikes for good behaviors. At least not to my knowledge.

Applesaucey2 votes

Not having your ban status de-escalated for good behavior would be retarded. But then again this is riot were talking about.

Certified Fresh2 votes

Fhew this is useful information, thank you kind sir

Zombie Gerbil2 votes

You're absolutely welcome, friend! Goodluck out there!

That info is not true. After a certain (unknown) amount of games you will drop a punishment tier, if you keep up being positive.

The consensus around here is that it takes on average about 3 months to play the amount on games necessary to drop a tier.

I would love to see the source of that. Because as long I've been here, I've always known you get 4 strikes. Till then, I will only follow their rules regardless of the risk. Plus, I like being a positive player.

Applesaucey1 votes

You probably called someone a f****t. which is apparently the trigger word for some SJW at riot and is now a straight to 14 day ban.

General Esdeath 2 votes

Someone seems triggered

Applesaucey1 votes

Imagine that, someone gets pissed off when they restrict access over something stupid to an account you have 2 grand sunk into.

General Esdeath 1 votes

Clearly you didn't care about that money that much if you went around using hate speech after getting a 14 day warning [sg-ezreal]

Applesaucey1 votes

General Esdeath 2 votes

The 14 day IS your warning. You're talking as if a permaban was your first punishment. Hate speech can skip the chat restrictions.

Applesaucey1 votes

General Esdeath 1 votes

Were you perma banned? No? Then it was clearly the warning. Every punishment is a warning except perma. And again, it is hate speech. Read the definition of hate speech carefully.

"Speech that attacks, threatens, or insults a person or group on the basis of national origin, ethnicity, color, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability."

Now, if you're using this word that attacks someone, based on sexuality, is it not under this definition? You think about this one tonight, champ. I'm heading to bed.[sg-ahri-2]

Right, but there is no way that someone you just met a few minutes ago knows that, and you don't know what kind of people they are. Just don't use the term.

I am not an sjw, in fact I think that being offended by just about anything is dumb. I am not even worried about people being offended, but the term is disrespectful and has no place in a game of league.

Words are not just words, and they change the perception of other people. Words have incited countries to genocide. Words encourage people to end their lives, and words have caused riots and mass murder.

Sorry, but there were plenty of situations where individuals have used words and it costs real world things.

You have some growing up to do it seems. Your logic is completely misguided.

so wouldn't calling some one a f*cker be considered hate speech?

General Esdeath 1 votes

Nope! You're not attacking them for things like gender, sexuality, race, religion, etc.

Xidphel2 votes

It IS a warning. It's a way of saying "Do that again and you'll get perma'd". Also, "%%%got" IS hate speech. It's a homophobic slur.

Racist or hateful remarks in general seem to have become an instant ban so yeah don't say them. EVEN ONE TIME.

I Just Stunned U1 votes

Unlucky that u got caught being toxic i guess, but u shouldn't be toxic in the first place. U can expect a punishment if u have bad behavior. I agree with you that it should've been a chat restriction though.
