Way to solve the toxic community.

Just instant ban people who are toxic. Why do we coddle people with chat restrictions? Since season 6 I have seen more toxicity than anything. You even let known toxic players play in the LCS which sets a bad example. Domination is the only previous toxic player I have seen actually reform. Instead of chat restrictions I purpose two things.

  1. Remove Chat: It is a distraction and most things can be told by pings. Giving a Chat outlet also allows players to be toxic or passive aggressive. However, I know many people are against this because it creates problems like (Some people being toxic in no verbal outlets)

  2. Start with a 2 week ban then increase the ban from 2 week to 4 week etc until it hits a year then perma ban. I say this because When you say "Chat restrictions are for players who are just having a bad day" You are kind of saying it's ok to have a bad day and be toxic. You aren't really solving the problem but you are prolonging it. Most people don't care they are chat restricted. I think you need to send strong message about this sooner.

I don't Rob the bank not because I don't want to and I am a good person. But because my freedom will be taken away for a long time. We should really think hard about what prevents people from being toxic. Personally I see more and more people going to counter strike because games like that people don't spend an entire match typing. Or if they do they have the option of leaving and finding a new match. This game you are stuck with a person for an hour. And I think because of the length of matches thats why we see more toxicity.

I don't agree that removing chat would help anything. Chat is a legitimate means of communication, and every now and then I enjoy a beneficial conversation with a stranger in League. Yes, it's abused by toxic players, but they can be dealt with. It can also be important to share strategies with my teammates. I can say that I'm going to build tanky, or raw damage. That I'm going to gank frequently, that I need help, or that I like to play aggressively.

I don't particularly care about how the banning system works, I think it's good at the moment. My question is, where does all the toxicity come from? How come I have one to three toxic players nearly every match? It's confusing to me that people get so frustrated over a game--and I usually don't even play ranked. I think it would be a better, if less simple, method to try to find the root cause of displeasure and fix that.

So... deplete their source of money because of your feelings?

I agree with this. I even have a post of my own going with a vote that has it if Toxic players shouldn't be perma banned only have their chat taken away. If they can't chat that really limits their toxicity, and if they start inting, then they take the L and get banned. I don't think chat bans are useless, they are just too loose, they need to be stricter. This is coming from a person with permabanned accounts.

How about we remove everyone who uses the term "toxic" seriously? They're the only ones who cry about chat, and they're the ones who cause issues. Then us adults can play the game and, you know, not take grave offense to the chat in a video game.

Alright, there are reasons why Riot has their system like so, and why they will never remove their chat. They won't change their punishment system. It has proven effective at clearing out toxicity more than other seasons (at least according to others- I never found much toxicity myself), and is based on the prospect of reform. They always want to give players a chance, that one tiny bit of chance that they will get smart before their permanent ban. Sadly, most players won't realize they needed to change until they get the final punishment, which is a sad thing. It's more of an optimistic look of the punishment system, at least.

Also, chat is not there to be toxic- some people use it to be. It's there for things you can't put into pings (dragon is warded by enemy, enemy will be ganking bot in about 20 seconds and he has ult, we need to push on all 3 lanes simultaneously, they're all grouping mid) or generally saying positive things or joking around with your team. If chat was removed, a lot more people than you think would be against this. I am very against this as well, as then my two legendary skins become a lot less fun (I like reciting their lines).

I think bans need to be more harsh, If you're chat banned you should be RANK banned aswell.

Yeah people get rude but sticks and stones you can mute and block players so why be a wuss and cry "TOXIC" like a five year old. Granted some children play LoL that is what the language filter is for. Really culture for an e-sport grow a pair of whatever you are lacking enough drama from grown adults with puny sensitive hearts. You can hide in game or face it. PvP is a mind game as well as tactics. In real life do you run every time something offends you? You will never succeed in anything let alone a free game if you let mere words crush you like a grape! As long as EVERYONE knows that the reporting system is automated and requires people to actually report someone, and that the Tribunal is now a big joke, the toxicity will never change. I have lost friends I like to play with due to the fact we like to try to compete and advance in ranked play but the trolls, and toxicity is so high at the moment and the "take a joke" especially in bronze many have given up. I also think that the creation of clans, though a great idea and has wonderful aspects to it, has created a new way to be toxic with impunity.

Actually ban the toxic people, would fix half the problem. Yes they can create another account and run it up...ban them if they continually are toxic or trolling. People need to use the report button, and yes you can mute them (ignoring a problem never fixes it, just makes it worse), but if we don't do our part Riot can't do theirs. The major problem is THERE IS NO FEAR OF BEING TOXIC FOR NO FEAR OF BEING BANNED FROM THE GAME.

I have taken to if team wants to be toxic, I don't have to help them win, I can do my thing. I know not the best solution, but "take a joke" and "grow up" and "mute them" and I will take a loss as well, as I tend to win a lot more then I lose.

I already do what you suggested it doesn't solve the toxicity issue ** As soon as I know a game is going to be toxic I cut off all communication I type (/Mute All) and I turn off my sound so I cant hear pings either both are a distraction to me when not used as I would use them.**

Then solve the issue with players trolling Role Selection, the new role system solved many of my problems for the last 4 months maybe 5 now, but players are intentionally trolling / griefing and causing loss of games.

Examples

. Junglers who run into a persons lane and throw a lane off without thinking ( I Think we need a cure to the zombie disease going around.) (Brains?) This can be very disruptive to a lane phase in many ways Pushing CS, Ruining a kill your ally is about to get, causing the enemy to get ahead, and costing your ally XP /Farm if done incorrectly it puts the enemy ahead instead.

. Players stealing roles and telling (X) player go (X) location instead when they say no at champion selection needs to be dealt with especially when they cause the game to be lost by griefing.

Start with a 2 week ban then increase the ban from 2 week to 4 week etc until it hits a year then perma ban.

I doubt people will wait for a year just to get their account unbanned. let it go from 1 week ban to 2 weeks to finally 4 weeks then permanent

I agree that with you why chat wouldn't be great on removing. Because those same toxic people would then become non verbal toxic. having the chat allows riot to catch those who are toxic. But I also think Longer ban times and faster action is better. I mean Chat restriction is easy to get rid of.. You just play Aram. Or you get friends and play twisted and /ff at 15 minutes.
