Banning System Improvements (Suggestion)

Hi all. This is a support ticket that I suggested that a Rioter look into as I was very fairly banned but had no way to get rewards at the end of season. I suggest reading through the entire thread to see my point of view and suggestions. I know I am biased to an extent because I am not receiving rewards at the end of this season, but I do feel as though there might be a good amount of people who are within my situation (or the exact opposite where the punishment is considered less harsh, solely due to timing of said punishment). Unfortunately I have quite a bone to pick with the banning system of League, and I want to show you why. Hopefully, this feedback will be taken into consideration as I am infuriated as a player to not receive ranked rewards now due to my first offense as a player. Although the offense is very well considered to be incredibly harsh, the penalty does not match the offense in question and I am incredibly annoyed, this being my third ticket being submitted since.

I understand the reason for the two week ban. I told someone "kys" in chat in pre-game, and he reported me for it justly and I am obviously very aware that I should have not used that language by any means. I do not, however, attribute this even SLIGHTLY close to hate speech like using the n/f words, which I would consider to be a very easy two week ban and potential perm ban instantly, as hate speech should not be tolerated whatsoever. My use of language is not a death threat. I am not telling someone I am coming to their house and I am not telling someone to do things unimaginable to themselves, as nobody would end up doing that unless there were circumstances of being told repeatedly through negative comments "you're trash" and other mean things to say. However, this is not the case. -- to a certain degree, I don't believe this to be incredibly true anymore. I think I was just annoyed with the banning system and losing my temper once. I've unfortunately had plenty of games with other players where I get far more frusturated because of the large amount of pinging, negative comments towards others, etc. that far exceed someone saying "kys" but I do think it's still credible for a 2 week ban. The other player in question provoked me, and yes, I am very aware this does not defend myself by any means. But his use of provoking another player is almost at the same level as entrapment, getting my angry enough after playing with him for multiple games to piss me off purposely in order to potentially result in my wrongful banning once I say something mean enough, which in this case, is how I 100% feel. I am 100% aware of the fact that in your rules you say that another player's actions should not result and do not cause someone else to do something harsh, but unfortunately, this is not always true. Through this other player's actions in game (banning my champion purposely, pinging me constantly, telling me I'm not good/garbage in the game before), I got to a point where I did say "kys" and muted him as I knew my mistake from the get go. There was absolutely no reason to say that kind of language by any means, but as I said before, I do not believe it to be a death threat when used by itself.

Lastly, I'd like to point out the severity of the punishment vs age of the account and knowledge that I have now. I have had zero issues in the past with this account. I have thousands of games played (~107 days game time, 2,574 hours played) and have never had an issue in the past with any type of punishment, ever. I have been more than happy to help people in game, to teach others, and to attempt to deescalate a situation when it's come to a point where another player is trigger happy and says mean things just for the sake of it. While I understand a two week ban in order to say "HEY, knock the stuff out ASAP, don't be stupid," I am now ineligible for ranked rewards, including the Victorious skin that JUST SO HAPPENS to be one of my favorite champions in the past seasons (6 seasons) that I've been playing the game.

To put it simply, I acknowledge the two week ban entirely. I am aware of the severity of it to a degree as I used language that should not have been used.

Now, however, I am ineligible for ALL rewards due to this one punishment out of THOUSANDS of games played on the account, and was even told that I could "technically" receive rewards if I just played "A TON" of twisted treeline bots games. After playing 30+ twisted treeline games, other 5's bots games, as well as normals with friends consistently (total 50+ games), I did not even receive a single check point (honor 0, checkpoint 0 still) after this amount of games, which then I knew there was no way I could receive the skin unless I put an ungodly amount of time into the game, which I already consistently put in. So, in other words, due to this single chat line out of THOUSANDS of games played and all the good I put into the community by deescalating situations and attempting to improve others by bringing the community up, I am punished for the one singular time where I lose my temper due to another player provoking me with their consistent use of bad actions.

If you do not do anything for me personally (which is the main reason I am asking for here), at least consider the rest of the community. You punish others severely for the timing of a punishment. Had I received this punishment earlier in the year, I would have received the skin and been able to very easily get honor level 2 back with no issues. However, because it's so close to the end of the season, I am unable to put that much time into a month in order to get things back to normal, which is unjust and unfair.

To put it simply, I would like whoever to at least acknowledge the following: 1. I would very, very much like the Victorious Orianna skin. I think overall, I have a positive impact on the community despite my one line of text where I did lose my temper with another player through their actions, which still does not justify myself._ - I am aware now that this is not possible or plausible, so you can completely ignore this_

2. If the above is not complete, at least look at your punishment system. I have been honor 5 (or working towards it) since the system came out. I have been consistently good with others, and think that OVERALL I make a good impact on others. I am 100% aware of the fact that if I even said anything CLOSE to what I did again, my account would be permanently banned instantly and I would not be able to recover the account, which would be considered just if I decided to use the language again. Due to the timing of the punishment, however, I am now ineligible for the rewards solely due to this. If I were banned earlier or later, I would have had time to complete it.

a. You can fix this by potentially doing increased honor based on the fact that players were higher honor level before. E.G. if someone gets banned with honor 5 for using any language, have an accelerated way to get back up to acknowledge their previous actions, but make them understand that if there is another issue, the account will have more severe punishments and potentially reduced honor at that point. If a player is honor level 2 and gets banned, there should be no acceleration. b. You could also fix this potentially by taking the average honor level over the months of the season. I believe there are approximately 10 months in the season, and you could average that out and instead say, hey, you need to be an AVERAGE of at least honor level 3 to be eligible for rewards. This way, players want to make sure they are in good standing still over the entire season, rather than having some harsh punishments early that don't have as high of an impact as they did on myself. c. You could also fix this by saying players who were INELIGIBLE for ranked rewards at the end of season can be eligible assuming honor was the only thing barring them. If they get their honor back up to THREE (3) within six (6) months of season end, there's good reason to believe that the player in question has learned from their mistakes and should receive the ranked rewards due to the untimely punishment and actions the players had.

I hope that whomever looks at this can give me a thoughtful response and look into this situation. I understand my penalty and am 100% aware of the 14-day ban, which is relatively just given the comments. But additionally not receiving rewards has frustrated me beyond belief due to the untimely manner of events, and I hope that somehow I am able to redeem myself in order to receive rewards for this season. I would really appreciate any management giving additional responses, and hope that this is given as much time as needed in order to resolve the issues I have complained about. While I would LOVE for this to be about myself, I know that it may not be possible to receive rewards still, despite the justifications made above and suggestions I have to improve the systems. I just hope that everything can be minimally considered to either improve the game for the next people in my situation who get really peeved, or can hopefully help other people who are also in this situation for the end of this season.
