What should I do in this situation

I was getting into game as jungle, when some one in the house asked me to get them something, so I got up from my computer, and forgot to switch out my summoner spell for smite. I didn't want to give every one a bad game, being that I would struggle really hard not being able to buy jungle items, and not having an important summoner, so I left the game so that my team could remake. This however got me flagged by leaver buster and a longer que time. Is there some other way I can try to cope with these situations? I know that I should be better about my summoners when getting into game, but I was wondering what the most sportsman like thing to do would be if it does happen again.

No. You did the most sportsmanlike thing possible and should eat the leaver buster delay.

I applaud you for doing so.

This was a very unselfish thing of you to do, it's always reassuring to see that there are people who think about more than just themselves.

As for what to do, I played against a Talon (old one) a few months ago, who said in all chat that he was really drunk and forgot to take Smite. He was on the enemy team, so I couldn't quite see what all he was doing, but he just ganked lanes nonstop anyway, and ended up with something like 15 kills at the end of the game, and more or less carried them to victory. That being said, I know this would work on some champions better than others.

Thank for the applause. I'll just have to get better about my summoner spells in the future. It kind of sucks to be punished for trying to do the right thing. I worry the penalty might escalate if it happens again.
