I got banned for spoiling a movie... really ?

Hi guys! So like the title indicates it, i was banned for spoiling avengers infinity war. The thing being bad or good is arguable and I don't want any hate comments like: "You piece of sheet, get what you deserve!". My question for you guys is : Do you think it's fair to get banned for such a thing in an instant (I mean 30 minutes or so) and never get to see those people who are intentionally feeding, insulting, flaming or AFK getting banned after a full team report ? Am I just missing something here or is it opposite day ? I mean we had a toxic Riven who AFK'd the game I was reported for my behaviour and yet nothing happened (I know it for a fact). Again I'm not here to complain, I find it quite funny actually. I just wanted your thoughts on that.

Intentional feeders get punished quite frequently. However, by spoiling a very popular movie, in a way that you're basically forcing people to watch you spoil it, you are in effect trolling. I'm unsure if that's actually punished in game unless it's egregious, but on the boards it certainly may be punished as per our policy on spoilers.

Regardless of how many people reported you, if Riot decided that your spoiling of the movie was done in bad faith and only with the intent to annoy, grief, piss off, or troll other players, it certainly may have resulted in a punishment.

I don't think Riot or admins on their boards have any right to ban people for spoilers for a completely topic of a completely different medium. If you see it, just delete the post, if its in game, mute the person and don't look at it. Riot thinks themselves gods of their own universe sometimes smh.

spoilers are dick moves, yes. But its a movie guys... chill out.

Riot is allowed to prohibit anyone they choose from accessing their services for any reason. They are a private company.

They have chosen to only exercise that right when players do things that are to the detriment of the experience of other players. Intentionally spoiling extremely popular art (movies, tv shows, books, plays, anything) for other players is not just a "dick move" but it is intentionally doing something specifically to fuck with other players - something Riot does not take kindly to.

How does riot feel about the F word? Also, thanks we all know that riot is allowed to do what ever they want with THEIR game. That fact doesn't mean they SHOULD. Riot could say hey we don't like players who's sum names begin with "c" and therefore they are all now perm banned, and that would be "allowed." Really insightful content from our friendly neighborhood advisor!

I'm fine with you being punished for this. What difference does it make that you're being a dick to other players outside the context of the game? You're still intentionally being a dick using Riot's communication medium.

Lol they even had a post saying that they will suspend any posts that will spoil the movie until the 11th of May. I guess that extends to in game too.
