Legit got a 10 game chat suspension for not cussing, not being racist and of course not trolling. I was responding to everything said with calm rebuttals and then I suffer from it yet the players, one of which cussed multiple times, got nothing in return? Does anyone else feel like Riot has just plain gone soft?

Outside of bans related to cheating, I'm pretty sure most bans come with a reform card that would cover your screen EVERY TIME YOU LOG INTO THE BANNED ACCOUNT. So you can't lose it or anything.
Also, if Riot is "bringing down the hammer for anything", that's not "soft", as "tough" or even "ruthless" are clearly more valid as description (assuming the accusation is true, that is); you don't call a government going on an arrest rampage "soft" now would you?

Then you don't have a case. Without a chat log, we can only take what you say at face value, and, considering how people naturally try to weasel their way out of punishments, we tend to consider things at face value with a mountain of salt.

All we can imagine is that you were retaliating or counterflaming - or at the very, very least (although I personally believe it's one of the former) fuelling a pointless argument.
You can think what you want about what was said, but I know the truth of the matter.
As mentioned earlier - truth without evidence is not a truth to be considered. You can claim you know the truth, but without any chat logs or evidence to back up your claims, we won't have any reason to believe you.

Baka Red2 votesSince you only got a 10 game chat restriction, we knew already that you didn't use any racial slurs. If you had used them, you would be having a 14 day suspension now instead of 10 game chat restriction. The next time you behave like you did in the matches you received your report from, you are quite likely to get the next step of punishment ladder, which is a longer chat restriction I think. If you continue negative behaviour after that, you get 14 day suspension and finally the fourth punishment; permanent suspension.
If you wish to know what you did wrong so you can avoid doing that in future, please feel free to post your chat logs which you received with the punishment. In the unlikely scenario that you didn't get chat logs with it, contact the support and ask for them.

The in-client language filter is completely different and not used by the behavior systems. Just wanted to clarify that, as assuming it is could cause confusion.
No, that is not a list of words that will get you auto banned.
We do not ban for bad words. We ban for harassing people.
Zezockary1 votesCurse words do not trigger punishments. You can literally curse all you want and as long as it doesn't reach spam levels and isn't meant to offend anyone you won't be punished for it.
You can say "Holy shit Zed, nice play!"
You can't say "Zed you suck uninstal."
UntimedDemise1 votesThe only cuss words used was by a teammate who basically told me to go F off and other things. I don't know the exact detail to the others as it was some time ago but I do remember being told to F off, that's for sure. I thought the tribunal would have done it's job properly, but I see another one slips through the cracks.
Zezockary1 votesHow do you know the person wasn't punished? The notification for a punishment being triggered is rarely sent out when someone is punished, and it doesn't go out to everyone that reported them when it does.
As someone who took part in the Tribunal it was a very slow system that was easy to abuse. There was a huge backlog of requests and out of those I asked while it was running most said that they just clicked punish to get through it quickly for free IP.
If you would like to discuss why you were punished you can post your chat logs and I or another member of the community can help identify what you said that lead to your punishment.
UntimedDemise1 votesBecause when someone gets punished, it let's you know. There is this little lovely pop up window that lets you know if someone has been punished by the tribunal.
Zezockary1 votesRead my post. It is rare that the system sends a notification that someone was punished by your report, and when it does it doesn't always send it to everyone that reported thwm that game.
I have had times where myself and another person reported someone and we both got the notification, and other times where the same person and I report someone and only I got one.
From what I can tell most of the time when someone is punished a notification isn't sent out at all, but that could just be speculation on my part.

Negativity, harassment, belittling, arguing, etc. are all toxic, even if you don't curse or be racist.

comedybingbongs1 votesThe NA IFS, for whatever reason, takes "toxic" chat logs very seriously. Also, a lot of people who play league get offended by chat very easily and there is a culture of "I refuse to press the mute button" because people rather get all riled up and then cry to the report system.
My advise is to let the anger out audibly under your breath. I say the meanest things about my teammates but have been refraining from typing them. Crazy how much its made my win rate go up. I've literally lost countless games from poking fun at my teammates mistakes only to have them soft int and play worse on purpose to make us lose.
So yea, I would say to use the chat as minimally as possible. I don't even know why there is a chat box in the first place. Everything can be communicated via pings. The "strategic benefit" of chat has surely been outweighed by people getting in silly arguments and throwing games
