A Better Community

I think we can all agree that there are many toxic players. I for one would enjoy the game so much more if I was encouraged to do better and not harassed for having an off game. I would love to see some sort of system in place that puts a cost on such behavior, simple economics tells us if we want a behavior to stop make it costly to engage in such behavior. I propose a system that stops a player from ranking up even after successful completing their promotional series. Simply have an alert that pops up and says "Even though you were successful you will not be ranked up at this time due to your behavior." I'm sure there would need to be more thought given to this to stop exploits, but I think this thought worth looking into.

Thanks for your time, TmL STIHL

Or you can you know... permaban them. That works too.

I agree that something should be done to directly impact toxic players. Especially in ranked where that sort of behavior can directly impact the game. The community needs to be a place where one feels welcomed and encouraged. Not likeAmumu

I think we can't agree on that

http://gdcvault.com/play/1017940/The-Science-Behind-Shaping-Player click on the 5th topic down "Analyzing the Player Behavior Problem"

That's a talk given by Lyte(Rioter in charge of Player Behavior) about player behavior in League of Legends and how to solve it. There are actually a lot less chronically toxic players than we might think. It's just that since there's so many people playing league, and 10 people in every game that the odds of meeting somebody having a bad day who is easily set off is pretty decent. The truly consistent toxic people get banned and thank goodness we don't have them around all the time. Instead we're dealing with people that have a tendency to get set off by frustrating situations.
