Reporting and muting someone in champ select

Hello

Why is there not implemented a function where you can either report og mute someone while in champ select? I met a toxic player (smurf) who was toxic right away when there were no reason to be. The person is intentionally feeding every single game (I dodged) and kept telling everyone to kill themselves..

I'm not a big fan of the idea of pre-game chat mutes, only because (more often than not) people will flame after the game has started rather than beforehand. Muting someone prematurely also means you're losing out on valuable conversation such as ban discussion, tactics, or trades. IMO it would be more of a detriment than a benefit in most scenarios.

Can't really say much for post-game chat. I think in-game mutes should carry over.

As for the actual reason, I think it's because in-game and in-client chats take place on different systems. They probably just haven't added (or figured out a way to add) the ability to mute people across multiple stages because of that. Just speculation tho :p

Just in case you remember their name, got a screenshot, or for the future:

If someone dodges but you manage to get the above information, you can attach that with a support ticket. Riot won't disclose the outcome, but if it's rulebreaking behavior it's a safe bet to assume they'll be punished.

Edit: Also, thank you Imperial Pandaa for reminding me of this:

OP: I'm pretty sure you aren't willing to jump into a game with someone you know is going to be toxic, but just incase you're willing to bite the bullet or don't really care: In-client reports made at the end of the game do cover pre-game chat, post-game chat, and everything inbetween.

Because, pre game chat is a different system that requires coding for muting. As for reporting, what is reporting in pre game going to do that post game doesn't?

This is a team game, and pre-game chat is to speak with your team to figure things out. It's unfortunate that there are some assholes, but this isn't League of Reports, and a report button doesn't belong in champ select. You aren't the first one to bring this up. It's never going to happen. Ever. Riot has put a lot of effort into shortening the queue/champ select time as much as possible, and adding more horseshit features because people can't handle communication during champ select is detrimental to getting people into games.

If someone was so terrible you had to dodge, report them via a support ticket and move on.

I completely understand that it's difficult to stop ourselves from reacting quickly in situations like you've been in. Though the context of what others have said or even the actions they've taken can help to paint a picture of what has occurred. The use of your own chat is the only aspect we take note of when considering a follow up penalty. I apologize for repeating myself but after a 2-week suspension has been applied, any small point of your chat that can be noted as negative, is weighed heavily against your favor.

Players that feed, troll, or grief matches will be penalized if reported at the end of the game. That sort of behavior is taken very seriously and will not go unseen. [16:07] xxxxxxxx (Tahm Kench): i hate [16:13] xxxxxxxx (Tahm Kench): having inting botlanes [16:18] xxxxxxxx (Tahm Kench): 5 games in a row [18:50] xxxxxxxx (Tahm Kench): YOU FUCKING MEATHEAD [19:24] xxxxxxxx (Tahm Kench): dumb %%%% (notice lower case, i.e. used in the context of the meme)

I'll take a look into your troublesome teammates you've mentioned, for a manual report. I do need to note that I cannot reveal any sort of action that I may or may not have taken due to privacy concerns.

Riot games system rewards duo queue players for griefing and toxicity in ranked games. 2 report can get players auto punished by their system. In this example chatlog the “allied” adc and duo queue support wintraded a high elo game. After communicating with these players post game it was found that no punishment was issued for the griefing bot lane. Riot games is a great company guys :).
