please tell me where i can find the rule so say "your not allowed to pick "this" champion in this "role"

long story short: my adc said its against the rules to pick alistar in jungel

Meta's a guideline, not a requirement. Neither does it come with any sort of rules. Though speaking from experience, I can see why someone'd be so paranoid of non-meta picks, or picks that seem too unusual to them, as I've been there a few times, though I've only ever actually been open about it once or twice (that I recall at least). It's too common to see it go downhill, I guess is what I'm getting at. I'm all for non-meta, as I've done non-meta picks as well, and won games as a result. But I'm also for the idea that it has to make sense in at least some way.

That being said, Vel'koz "ADC" is fun to play, if it succeeds. Enemy ADC tilts so quickly.

If you need anyone but yourself to figure out that player is full of crap then you have bigger issues than worrying about what bronzie and silver players think.

If your taking an off meta pick then why do you care what anyone says. Don't respond, play the game and move on with your life.

People have absolutely been banned for off meta picks in ranked in leagues history. I believe the most recent one was the singed support main.

I'd rather not get into that though. The case was argued and dealt with to death. The moral of the story is what has already been said here. The pick needs to be made with the intent to win, and I'm going on a limb here, to assume that it should also make at least a modicum of sense.

You're not wrong, but Riot changed how they handle that as a result of outrage surrounding the case. The worst that'll happen is that you'll get your account locked, and you'll have to talk to support to explain what you're doing and why you're getting reported.

Keep in mind the singed support guy was drawing reports in most of his games, even when they won, most likely because he was leaving his botlaner 1v2.

OP's ADC was operating on old info.

You forgot the quotation marks around "Support" because obviously if you actually watched the games that singed main played you would have noticed that he was never in lane starting from level 1 and rarely ever shows up leaving his adc in a 1v2 lane.

Anyone with brains will abuse the hell out of the lone adc in the 1v2 lane leaving your team with an adc living off what gold he can get from gold generation, so enjoy the 4v5 without the most important role (at the time).

Yup. My wife won't play normals anymore because while she was learning she got a nunu 'support' who left her bot for the whole game then flamed her with his duo buddy for not being able to 1v2 the enemy duo.

Fair, but they were off the reservation meta picks, like the support taking smite and stealing camps AND not checking with the team before playing. But I don't recall the circumstances, typically they're banned because they are not trying to win.

The OP's pick wasn't that outrageous.

Were you playing ranked? From my POV, I typically don't like people taking off-meta picks on my team because they usually require either a high level of skill to execute properly (and if you have a high level of skill, why are you in my elo) or an unusual amount of coordination in the team to be done successfully.

I play ranked to win, and I believe that players taking champs in roles they aren't designed for add likelihood that we will lose.

This drives me nuts as well. I play pretty traditionally as far as picking champions for their roles, but I've played multiple Ornn support games when the matchup makes sense.

Yes, you CAN play Alistar Jungle. However, unless you're a complete god with Alistar or your team hardcarries you, you're probably gonna lose. It's not very nice to your team to just add another undeserved loss to their match history.
