So i just got given a two week suspension for refusing to play with someone that said "all n-words should hang". okay essentially in this aram game jayce was afk for a while and poppy his premade explained that the guy dropped juice on his keyboard which is fine. i think after he dealt with his juice problem the first thing he said was all n-words should die. and thats when i told him to fuck off. like what the fuck who the hell says shit like that. anyways cassiopeia murdered our team and got a quadra, i was the only one alive so i typed in all chat "come for penta" because thats what people do right? anyways i cant remember who but someone took it from cassiopeia and and typed in all chat "lmao". at this point i really didnt want to play with that ass so i said "ff at 15" and then bard i think got angry and i refused to play with people who says shit like that. and honestly i dont think i deserve a two week suspension for refusing to play with someone that said i was autistic and that i should fucking hang. anyways the guy that said this shit is still playing as if nothing happened whereas i am here with a two suspension. so what i want to know is am i banned for the language i used or refusing to play with this? the following is the transcript riot provided. Game 1 damie44: fuck off damie44: coime for penta damie44: lmao damie44: ff at 15 damie44: #i dont play with people who say shit like that damie44: if u like i dont play with assholes who say "all %%%%%%s should hang" fuck that damie44: yeah u dont need a %%%%%% damie44: dont even know what autism is do you? damie44: go hang some black people asshole damie44: well done bitch boy damie44: wp.

furthermore, i wrote a ticket to riots support team and this is their reply.

Hello there,

I feel really sorry to hear about your experience, we can assure that strict punishments are linked to such language. We have a zero tolerance policy against toxicity, racism, homophobia or hate speech.

However, retaliation is not a suitable form of response in our game. Please keep in mind that the IFS judges each player's behavior individually. You are firstly responsible for your own actions. even if other players are toxic this does not give us a free pass to be toxic in return.

Unfortunately, we will not be lifting the suspension, I do have some tips that will help in the future:

If the games become too heated you can take a break anytime between matches to clear your mind. In case the other players are negative or toxic do not start to fight fire with fire, it only burns the whole forest down. Ignore and mute those players who create a negative environment and focus on your own gameplay. You can't control others, you can only control yourself. Everyone has bad days, I had some bad days which as a result made me have some bad games. Unfortunately it's not fair towards others to vent frustrations on them. I wouldn't like to be treated this way by others and I doubt you would either. So my advise is to vent anger in a way which does not affect other players and gameplay. Let me know if you have any other questions.

okay.... they state they have a zero tolerance policy but nothing i said was against anyone except perhaps "go hang some black people asshole" but since when was that an insult to someone who has said racist shit. riot say they have a zero tolerance policy but the guy that fucking said all this shit is still playing like what? honestly i think i would be fine receiving this punishment but the person who actually said this shit hurt to people is playing scot free. i have never been banned before or chat restricted and i am not toxic. anyways i want to understand why i was banned but not the other guy.

Its the fact you repeated it. Why? what use does it do? If you wanted to explain to the enemy team there are better ways to do that. But that doesnt matter as only one report is needed to get someones account reviewed. So again i ask what was the point in repeating the sentence? Then the one right under it:

damie44: yeah u dont need a %%%%%%

What exactly is that word suppose to be?

It doesnt help that you said this as well:

damie44: go hang some black people asshole damie44: well done bitch boy

Intentionally feeding repeating the racist comments flaming your team yourself

Dude... all you had to do was play out the game and report them after. That's it, that's all you had to do and you wouldn't have gotten banned, but you just HAD to hit enter and flame yourself. What part of 'zero tolerance' did you NOT get?

Nine other players are counting on your participation. If one of those players is a cancer-memeing edgelord that thinks he's hot shit when he trolls folks with fucked up phrases, then that guy certainly deserves a report and likely a ban. But when you counter-troll him, you're escalating the situation and actively ruining the game for up to 8 innocent players.

If you use any words like kys or %%%%%%s the automatic system bans you. Hope this gets more visibility.

I will never get people (like yourself) who feel the need to validate extremely dumb people who say stuff like your teammate did. Like...put them on ignore. What exactly will your reply do? Make them change their mind, grow up, not be dumb? None of that. In said you give the autoban system a chance of picking up the words you used in chat...thus you got banned. It's your fault man. Be less dumb.

  1. Riot has a zero tolerance policy for any racist stuff. Technically you repeated what the person said, by putting it in quotes. Not necessarily being toxic yourself, but this has been known to trigger the system in the past because you are repeating zero-tolerance language. In addition to that, you did say some other stuff of your own volition after you had already responded to them for saying it. You telling somebody to "go hang some <people of a particular race>" would be considered racist. In the end, it doesn't really matter if it was done in response to the person saying something like that. They will punish you the same as that other player. The tldr of this is that you were punished for using racist language, not for refusing to play with the person.

  2. How can you be certain the other player was not punished? Are you saying you didn't get an IFS popup about them being banned after you reported them?

Man, i guess i should thank everyone for their input and the riot support worker clarified that i was banned for responding to toxicity in the same manner. thankful that the riot actually responded. Now i know being toxic is not an offense but responding to toxicity in the same manner is bannable offense. Now i understand. now i know standing/ defending yourself to a abuse online in a game is not the right behavior. i guess i should i have apologized to him and done the thing he wanted me to. anyways league has been fun while it lasted. thank you to everyone that responded online. THE BIGGEST LESSON HERE IS THAT YOU SHOULD ALWAYS REPORT THOSE THAT ABUSE YOU ONLINE, BECAUSE IT MAY OR MAY NOT BE REVIEWED BUT AT LEAST IT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER.

They take hate speech pretty seriously, which is both why they're so strict and why they will not lift this punishment.

You didn't just repeat his slur, you took it a step further and started flaming him. You could have tyou'd "that's unacceptable," muted, and moved on with your game. As I'm sure you saw, flaming someone who's racist didn't immediately make them not racist, or even change them in the slightest.
