2 Week Ban because someone else trolled?

I got auto filled support ( a role I don't really play ) but anyways decided to go with Illaio support. I was first pick, and another player ( the top laner ) had also floated Illaio. I didn't notice this, and I locked in illaio support when my turn to pick came up and went to the bathroom. I come back during load screen and when the game loads up I notice our top laner (Tahm Kench) is following me to lane. For a second I'm confused like, " Arent I support?" a few seconds later he suicides and I realize he is trolling. I don't know why he is trolling, to which he later explains its because I picked the champ he wanted to play. He trolled, and suicided all game, I tried to plead with him to just play, or switch lanes, and he just kept trolling. Using tahms eat ability to swallow me and toss me into enemies and just be an all around douche.

His rational was he has more games on illao than me so I should have not picked illao. After game my team reported him, and some players on the other team. I log back in later to see I'm 2 week banned for my "Chat" of this game, which ive pasted. I don't see anything wrong with the chat. I wasnt rude, racist, derogatory in any way. Aside from being a bit frustrated that I was going to Lose LP due to him having a hissyfit because he was last pick, I thought I handled it fine. How do I appeal this? How did I get banned for him trolling? I'm sure its the instant feedback system but how do I appeal it?

And no, you were not banned for someone else trolling.

You were banned for being a toxic, negative and whiney douchebag in chat.

They normally send you three cards with chat on them from three games. This can't be the reason you got banned.

well, the system works like this, if you are reported a lot eventually some report makes you punished

it was a fake report in your case

you can try to file a support ticket here https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en but i dunno if they will care

back then when the tribunal existed, i saw how it was, i did the tribunal for a bit of ip and for reading full logs looking for amusing things, and i saw that when one game was reported wrongly other ones which you were shown were usually reported for a reason... i also got a warning by the tribunal too, and to get it i was reported in i think a few dozens games almost in a row (i went on a rampage >< like hecarim) albeit the tribunal only had like 4 shown cases

so, if you are punished (i don't meant that silly permaban thing when they simply permaban for some tabooed words, i mean the ordinary punishment for chat insults or game trolling) you likely were reported a lot. possibly you were like that signed guy, played a lot of ialloi support and were reported on every loss and some wins and so the system thinks you are throwing the games...

something like that. playing off-meta made people banned even years ago, makes them banned nowadays too

You don't get a 2week ban from one game where maybe... you didn't deserve it.

You get a 2 week ban because the last several times you got bans or chat restrictions, you didn't learn from it.

That does seem like a rather unfortunate situation. I confess that most of the threads I read there, I tend to not feel much sympathy for the posters, because they often are grossly toxic and harassing to their team. But this honestly just seems well... completely justified and normal discourse. It's obvious that you weren't pleased with Tahm, but you weren't flaming him, you weren't cursing him, calling for reports. In my opinion, you weren't breaking the summoner's code, maybe tiptoeing the line and peeking over the edge of it, but certainly not the tap dance number that most of the PB&M board posters do. I am geuinely sorry for you on this one, and I beg you to consider submitting a ticket to Riot Support Staff.

I certainly do not feel like temporary ban was warranted by itself, not by this.

Welp I submitted a ticket : I'm really disappointed, this just seems unfair. He basically said because I was using /allchat . It doesn't make sense.

  1. The troll was using all chat, and trying to persuade other players to report me, I was simply defending myself. I didn't flame or argue with the enemy team or the troll for that matter. I tried all game to try and get him to not troll. his response was " well I'm already getting reported so I might as well stand by my decision to troll"
  2. "You appear to be focusing on typing rather than playing." Tahm was literally eating me and sprinting into the enemy line, I couldn't play at all, I was being trolled. He literally followed me all game and kept eating me all game. There is no way to stop him from eating you, and you are completely disabled while he does it. He gains movement speed and can take you wherever he wants.

So basically if you get trolled, you should just not get frustrated, not respond, sit quietly while they ruin your game, your ladder standings, and waste your time. Basically be emotionless and not human at all.

Here is a few choices for you moving forward.

  1. You can get perma-banned. This will happen since you are on your last strike if you keep using chat. Then you would have to lvl a new account or acquire a new account.

  2. Never use chat again and pick up discord/curse and use that to communicate with anyone willing. Also there is a trick to get rid of chat box if you want that I can give a link.

  3. You can use those two week bans to attempt to learn dota 2/give it a chance. You don't like it then you go back to playing league no harm no foul you can't play league anyway for 2-weeks. If you need tutorials or help just reply and I can give them to you. I would say this is optimal since you learn a much richer game and don't have to deal with this outdated ban system ever again (if you actuall read this reply 404 before your reply)

But don't mind me I'm just an old fool basing by spreading the word of Dota 2 and our lord gaben. Don't mind me, I just like clients that work and a ban system that actually handles our toxicity instead of putting them in with the newbies. I'm sure to recieve my usual amout of downvotes as I stroll by but I won't mind none, these people can't help it (they usually can't read either).

That's the only thing that really stands out to me about your chats. While you aren't actively being "pls report Tahm" you sorta are requesting that your teammates report him.

You could also have been reported for taking his champion. Not that that's a reportable option, but people might see that as unsportmanlike to take a fellows teammates champion that they are hovering.

Chat doesn't look like it's 2-week-ban-worthy. It doesn't look good; there are lines that (in my opinion) warrant a chat restriction. But, it doesn't look ban-worthy.

Sometimes Riot will drop the hammer if they've chat-restricted you several times, and they don't feel like you're getting the hint. I don't know if that's what's happening here.

Support ticket is your best bet, a Riot can give you more context on what's going on here.

Other than calling in for reports which RIOT has stated can get you punished I see nothing wrong. If this is truly the only game chat you were given and it's unedited then I don't actually believe your ban to be justified.

That being said you should avoid engaging in confrontation when you've already received previous punishments.
