I was wondering if editing the game.cfg file was violating the terms of service at all? I have seen posts where riot employees don't care but i'm just making sure that I will not get banned if I tamper with the settings in this file.

It depends on what you're doing. Technically any modification is bannable, but they don't mind things that don't give you an unfair advantage like changing a hotkey that the in-game options doesn't accept. If you're in doubt I'd recommend submitting a ticket.
if they do a sweep looking for altered files you can get banned for 3rd party software , google terms of service and it s laid out in writing
any altering of the client files can be subjected to being banned

They said yes, although Modifying a .CFG File should never be a ban worthy offense from any game because its able to be opened with a note-pad, and requires no third party hacks or cheats to access or edit it but rather CFG Files are made to be changed from inside the game to outside its a simple game settings file.
Although if its illegal to modify the CFG Files as Riot says playing on a resolution because Riot doesn't support older or newer 40 inch television resolutions for example, then Riot should make it so it can no longer be opened with note-pad or word document but its rather encrypted like most games are...
Honestly editing the CFG File really provides no advantage at all but if edited for resolution it can show a bit a more than what it should distance.
Riot uses fear to control the masses.
I wanted to ask the same question, I just ended up putting in keybinds for simple chat commands like /joke and /dance, in addition, I also set the turret range indicators to "1" (True), do those count as bannable offenses? Also changed the text visibility and also configured it for Mac OS.
