[ISSUE] [LEAVEBUSTER] Punishing User for Riots Fault

What Happened?

  • The computer crashed badly, with a blue screen (this happens from time to time, like simple client-hangs or crashes)
  • After 5 to 10 min. I manage to log in again.
  • Game has ended, I get a 5 times low-priority penalty

So, because RIOT GAMES is not able to detect the crash of its own client, it simply assumes that I intentionally left the game.

In essence, RIOT insults me (for being kind of a leaving looser), and punishes me.

VERY VERY BAD USER EXPERIENCE.

You should really fix this.

EXPECTED

Riot detects his own client crashing (e.g. by the technique of a "watchdog" or anything else), and stops insulting players which are already punished by the crash.

If Riot cannot detect client-crashes, then it should at least fix the text-messages given to the user.

"It seems that you left the game intentionally. Thats why we have to place you in a low priority queue for 5 games. We apologize if your leave happened due to technical reasons (crash, power failure or similar)".

Then a client could say: "Ok, it seems to be difficult to differentiate a CRASH from a LEAVE, so I take the penalty. At least they apologize".

You see the difference?

The better User Experience?

You got a blue screen crash, which is NOT Riot's fault. It is YOUR FAULT because it's something wrong with YOUR computer. Riot can't detect when YOUR computer suddenly turns off/crashes. Don't blame Riot for your computer crashing.

Check your computer over, uninstall any unneeded programs, updated any drivers that can be updated if you can, do a virus/malware scan to make sure there's none on your computer. If you're using an "old" computer, try lowering some game settings and not having anything open in the background.

You don't get leaverbusted from one incident. Fix your shit. It's not RIOT, it's you and you inability to fix your shit. If what you say is RIOT's fault is true then we would all be crashing. Ding, ding, we are not all crashing because most of us have enough sense to take care of our shit.

  • Many other players have client crashes, and Riot has even implemented "remake" due to the many on-game-start crashes (or on-game-start no-start).
  • Even if it's on my side: the client either
    • Must detect a crash
    • Be friendlier

I don't expect that a person which writes in such tenor grasps this.

Just explaining, in the hope the relevant people see this and grasp this.

The only "shit" is the arrogant and insulting text message. This is the main issue here, message should be corrected e.g. to:

"It seems that you left the game intentionally. Thats why we have to place you in a low priority queue for 5 games. We apologize if your leave happened due to technical reasons (crash, power failure or similar)"

Remake may have been added to deal with those off games where someone doesnt connect for some reason, but you don't seem to understand that the fault lies with the person who didnt connect, not with riot.

If you are never leaving any of your games intentionally but you still get leaverbuster penalties then you are telling me that you either consistently have problems running League of legends or you just had some extremely bad luck. However you pointed out in another post that all your other games run fine, so it seems there is something about league of legends your computer doesnt seem to like. In that case you know that every game you play there is a meaningful chance that your game will crash, which ruins the experience for others. That is why Riot still punishes you through leaverbuster: because you know there is some sort of compatability or run-time issue between your computer and league of legends and you still play the game anyways and end up ruining other players' games.

You are definitely not to blame for whatever issues your computer has with league of legends, but you are responsible for acknowledging those faults with your device and being courteous and thoughtful of other players by not taking that chance that your client will crash.

I am sorry for whatever issues your computer is having with league of legends and it sucks when you have your game experience ruined because of your computer's in-compatability or because of some sort of compatibility issue brought on by a recent patch to the client, but that doesn't make you any less responsible for a disconnection on your end when you know that these issues are present and you play anyways.

Change the message to something friendlier, like: "It seems that you left the game intentionally. Thats why we have to place you in a low priority queue for 5 games. We apologize if your leave happened due to technical reasons (crash, power failure or similar)".
