Perma-Banned vs Perma-chat restricted

I've discussed this with friends and teammates alike, I do not understand the reason why riot doesn't provide perma-chat restriction opposed to permanently banning accounts.

I care because I just got a 5 year old account perma-banned. I deserved it. I know I have a problem with my toxicity. But there is no way to disable my chatting. Yes, I see the incoming "self control" comments, but it goes beyond that. Why not just give a simple out. Maybe let the teammates know that he wont be typing. I just don't understand why a company so well funded is screwing themselves with things the community has asked for before (i.e. self muting, sandbox, etc.).

Any insights as to why riot wants to remove players entirely opposed to removing simply the ability to be toxic is appreciated.

They used to have permanent chat restrictions, but then players took out their frustrations with in-game trolling instead, so now they're just permanently banned instead.

They used to. They found that anyone who couldn't be verbally toxic quickly turned 'nonverbally toxic' I.E. they trolled, griefed, and fed. Because of this, they stuck with bans.

The system is created by some college drop-out hack whos turning this into his own failed science experiment. I assume hes just writing a thesis on why policing the traits that you dont like works 100% of the time is a fucking fantastic idea. it worked for drugs and prohibition. EVERYONE knows that punishment (such as jail, or in this case a permanent account ban but you let them go back into "society) works 100% of the time. Honestly, this compnay hired a college drop out when it was still super small. Guy is a retard who just cant look at the species of humans as a whole. But hey, some people like not getting new friends into the game as levle 30 accounts are permabanned and just re-rolled into the NEW player base experience.

You can change the size of the chat box so it almost unrecognizable. i once had it to tiny, i could barely even read the text even if i tried
