Constant racism in this game and no one blinks an eye?

So im an avid league player. I have invested countless hours and money in doing such. I love this game. but what i DONT like is constant lashing out at me because of my ethnic background. Ive dealt with trolls, i had bad teams and ive lost games. but ive NEVER dealt with racial discrimination of this magnitude. i rarely report, but when i do, It for good cause. We lose games, i get that, so i dont report a player for having a bad game so with that being said, when i do report its usually when someone crossed the line. Rito is really streamline so when i report, I usually get a notification saying justice has been served and such but THIS time, the ONE time that i feel there is no room for this person to parttake in the joys of this game, i get nothing.... its been an few hours still nothing. My friend reported another one of our friends for telling him to Kys and he was permabanned in less then 5 min! so is this the message that you sending. that if a person is allowed to be bullied just because its racially targeted? if so then, id like my accounts that ive spent collectively 10k on over the course of 5 yrs fully refunded and i will no longer be playing league. I also wont be playing this game until something is done and yes, not that it matters. but i am an African American.

Hey guys, I've gone ahead and edited out the namedrops in this thread (including in the opening post's image). It's good to report stuff like that and honestly, I'm sure it will be dealt with with behavior such as that. Just try not to post player's names on the forums, as it is against the rules, specifically 'naming and shaming'. If you want to talk about board rules such as this one, or others, to moderators such as myself, or others, you're always welcome to join our discord.

Sorry you had to go through that honestly, but with that image... I'm sure the report will find its mark.

Look at Krizonar coming to protect the racists. This is the problem with Riot. THIS RIGHT HERE. Riot doesn't punish racism, but you'll stand here and try to protect them from scrutiny? That's the definition of prejudice.

I was on another thread where the OP was talking about being harassed and hit with racist remark because s/he spoke French in game to their friend. Do you know how Boards reacted to it? They told HIM he should just mute them. (along with a long list of posters trolling the OP and Riot allowing these comments to fly) WTF??? If "muting" is the appropriate answer- then these racists should have muted the OP for speaking French. And why is everyone so pretentious? For real. People will harass you all game and threaten reports, and get everyone in the game trolling you because THEY made a mistake. But when someone is genuinely being bullied or harassed, the other players just troll you for calling attention to it.

This game is trash.

Board moderators are not on Riot's payroll. Posting the name of people who are being toxic promotes witch hunting which only makes more problems. Mute the toxicity when it happens, and then do an in game report, and a ticket submitted report. If the game is trash, uninstall and leave the boards. No one is forcing you to continue playing.

The fact that you had to moderate this and not a rioter only confirms to me how little riot cares about these boards. Also, the fact that they haven't answered this thread in 15 hours. Seems like riot literally ignores ANY and ALL threads on these boards unless its a meme post then they love it. its been like 7 years and Riots engagement with the community is still worse than the Detroit automotive industry (YIKES). The boards are the MOST ignored of all avenues of getting anything across to Riot. Also the fact that the instant feedback system continues to not punish players properly shows their lack of commitment to making league a better place. It is extremely disappointing.

lol this coming from the same person who reports his teammate whos having a bad game for feeding or inting. but because i have a viable reason to report your like get off the internet? Do you live in your own world? why is reporting someone cause your a sore loser ok and reporting for the sake of making the gaming community better as a whole not? no, your your ok with it then YOU get off the internet. its better without you.

unfortunately he is correct. if you cant handle something as simple as that im surprised you can handle the internet in general, where racism and humor go hand in hand. this is by far not the worst example i have seen of racism over the internet, its 1 on my scale of racism, so low that it really doesnt matter to me in the slightest, id see that, read it, shrug my shoulders and keep playing, and while you could say i only think that because im white, ive reacted to racists insults against white people in the same way.

then you will say the same thing to me where "well if yours okay with it your part of the problem" to which ill reply, yeah, your exactly right i am. BUT its not my fault, and theres nothing i can really do to it, for nearly the exact same reason as to why they are doing it in the first place.

this is one of the basic concepts of oure pysche, and why humans act the way we do is through factors that govern is (at least according to sigmund freud) how you respond to people is broken down into the ID EGO and SUPER EGO. the id being instinctual trends, the super ego is the critical and moralizing role, and the ego is the organized part of you. this stuff only applies to humans mind you. or things we apply weight too, if we cant see something, if we cant know them, we usually dont apply all of these practices too. which over the internet is EXTREMELY COMMON. essentially what people do is that the lose there super ego, the part of there mind that says "hey i should think what i do out, and treat them like another human being" because they dont SEE you as another human being, just meat that talks. so that leaves the instincts and the organization left. and let me tell you, someone who is very organized and doesnt like you ALOT is capable of truly terrible things.

You totally can do something, though. You can not participate in it and not stand idly by while other people say this stuff. Letting other people get away with shit is and was a really big part of racial inequality. Insults against white people don't have anywhere near the emotional or mental impact as the word that was said in the OP's game and I know that as a white person who has friends that have been called that and seeing what it does to them. Saying "welp, that's the internet, if you're not white you need to suck it up" is probably more racist than people saying the N word without thinking about it because you're legitimizing racism and not just using a word to get a response.

Also for the id/ego/super ego thing, that just... No. You're close on people not recognizing that other people are people on the internet, but don't point at Freud like he's still relevant. Freud is only slightly more valid these days than alchemy. Not being able to see or even visualize that there's a real person behind the screen name IS the major problem, yes, but that doesn't mean that it can't be changed. Just remember that there are real people out there that have real feelings that matter and don't spew hateful bullshit or let it pass when someone else does.

And to the OP: I'm sorry this happened to you, and I hope it doesn't again. And if it helps as far as not getting the notification, I almost never do, and I'm pretty sure most people don't. Riot has said officially somewhere that there's a good chance you won't get a notification when a punishment is enacted. I'm willing to bet those players were punished or will be soon.

It does not matter whether he can "handle this" or not, this specifically breaks the ToS of the game. As such, it needs to be reported.

ToS doesn't matter when their automated system is a joke. It's like a school system where the Rules say "Don't bully". But then kids get bullied all the time and the bullies don't get punished. As long as you can't weed out the offenders properly, then the ToS might as well be a contract written on a wet sheet of toilet paper. Also, handle it! I'm black and I just laugh when I hear white kids use the N word. Doesn't trigger me one bit. :P

While I can partially agree with that, the dangers of mob mentality are really very severe.

If you put 5 or so people who do this exact kind of thing and put them together, very dangerous situations can happen that were very preventable, and innocent people are the ones who suffer.

I would love it if we could live in a world where we could say "they're just words, actions are what matters", but words just predate actions.

the ignorance you proclaim baffles me. 1) you werent there. 2) this is but a inkling of a portion of that happened during this game. it was a 40 min game with nothing but the spamming of n words, derogatory and other lewd behavior. it was to the point that there 2 of the 5 wanted to afk on their own team. Yet you say you cant help it? No my guy, to be racist is a choice. If i did a criminal offense, i couldnt tell the judge, "its not my fault its not something i can help doing" the same applies here. Then again, our background differs to the point that i doubt you can understand.

A few things: If your report is not the report that triggers the punishment, you won't get the notice. This doesn't mean that someone else didn't report the guy and he didn't get punished at all, it just means your report didn't trigger his punishment.

The automated reported is done by an automated system. Due to humans being able to warp the spelling of words in any way they see fit, the automated system may not immediately pick up on offensive language if odd spellings of the language hasn't been put into the system as a trigger word. It could take consistent reporting with this player's weird spelling, or even manual review in order to get a proper punishment for this player. This is why your "friend" who told another "friend" to KYS and got reported got punished - KYS is logged into the system as an instant trigger word. Adding extra "g"s or extra "r"s to the word you noted in your post will qualify as an odd spelling, and they might not be logged with that many extra letters as instant trigger words.

Your account cannot be refunded. This is stated in the Terms of Use that Riot doesn't issue refunds. If you are unhappy with other players in the games you're in, mute them IMMEDIATELY after they start on a path that you believe will lead to them using language that will offend you. This is what the mute function is for. There is absolutely no reason for you to keep exposing yourself to people who are offending you when you have the tools at your disposal to shut them off entirely.

If they are part of the same group it is perfectly feasible for them to both have access to the same pool of screenshots shared within their discord server.

Posting this comment in the way that they did may have been misleading, but the evidence is no less valid.

Just curious, were these players attacking you because they knew you were African American? If so... how would they know? I have played for almost 8 years and have never had anyone I played with know my gender, sexual preference or race... so I am curious about stuff like this. I have seen threads in which people say they were harassed for being female. Do you just hop into your matches and announce it or something? Or were they saying this stuff with no knowledge of your race?

It is not acceptable either way. I am simply curious.
