Make the Tribunal Great Again!

Hello Summoners,

I am pretty sure that this is brought up ever now and again over the fact that people want the Tribunal back and that a good number of people are getting punished because they believe the bot isn't doing a very fair job. I can understand this to an extent, because most cases are probably getting punished for a reason, but I also understand that automated systems tend to mess up here and there.

When the Tribunal was in effect I felt that it did two things effectively in my opinion: 1) Show that the community loved to be involved in making sure they worked to weed out toxic individuals and 2) Effectively showed to the offender that not only did the players find them in violation of breaking the Code but also a wide number of other Summoners.

I was extremely active in the Tribunal, because it made me feel very good when a judgment was passed that saved an innocent Summoner or punished an offending one. It was shaping the community and it was doing a great job from what I experienced. Not too sure if it was just the number of players was really small back then and more players possibly = to the possibility of encountering more toxic individuals, but it felt like justice was served.

If the Tribunal were to come back, I think that it should most definitely be used in conjunction with the Behavior Bot. The Behavior Bot could issue a trial for the reported Summoner for the offense. The jury can then review the logs and game info to determine the results of the trial, in like of the previous Tribunal.

I would even go so far as to say that I'd even like to see a High Court for appeals as well that is moderated by a mix of Riot Employees and high statused / appointed Tribunal members.

What does everyone think? How do you feel about the current state of the community compared to where it was when Tribunal was a feature? And if the Tribunal were to come back what would you want to see to make it improved?

Bringing real, tangible consequences to breaching the code and putting personable faces behind those punishments to teach offenders that it's not just a robotic wrist slap, it's other people disapproving of their actions is something that this game's community SORELY needs. I'm open to most any replacement to the tribunal that brings real ACTIONABLE change at this point, because 4 years is too damn long.

I mean that is probably their end game of what they want the Tribunal to be. Not only have the bot working on it, but also the community. The thing is despite what some people think, their "false" bans would more than likely be legit had the Tribunal still been in place. I remember actively using it, and rarely did i see people actually get Pardon for their actions. More often than not people just spam Punished, and that was one of the main reasons why Tribunal is no longer active. It was nice that they got rid of the whole Gaining IP for every correct verdict, because it just left people to abuse their power.

I too want the Tribunal back and hopefully we all who do use it as intended get in. I just dont want people to use it as a means to abuse, or get back at others. We dont need that kind of thing with this game, but thats why i feel they need to take as much time as they need to get the New Tribunal into better shape!

I don't think people here would even want the Tribunal, since they believe, like Riot, that a chatlog with virtually no context whatsoever justifies a punishment.

Ghostcrawler has said that Tribunal 2.0 will work alongside with the IFS and make use of the honor system as well.

It's been years since they anounced the rework and all we got since then is: "We're working on it but it's not high on our priority list".

I do understand there are more presing issues, constant updates, new client, reworks etc... But i think it's time we see some updates on the tribunal progress even if it's not that big.

I don't expect it to be back any time soon the way it's going right now. Probably half season 8 or season 9 if they anounce it this year and depending on the progress.
