Permanently Banned for This?

So, permanently banned for this? I got THREE trolls in a ranked game. One (Rumble) buys 6x Tear of the Goddess and starts intentionally feeding, then goes AFK. One (Vel Koz) spends the game flaming literally everyone and refusing to help. (i.e. during a "teamfight," would walk away and start dance-taunting). The other (Nunu) does the same dance-taunt thing outside of "teamfights," intentionally feeds some deaths, and then AFKs. Screenshot

So I got a perma-ban notice, it has exactly one chat log on it:

Explain to me why this is perma-ban worthy. I'm not allowed to be upset that people are literally trolling in my ranked games?

Fun fact: The rumble did not get punished for buying 6 tears and afking. (He has 2 games after this one).

Well played Rito: Ban the guy who tries to win, and let the trolls get away :D (But ye, probably we all know the Rito logic: It was just a bad game.)

Also worth noting at the time of the screenshot, that Rumble is clearing the wolves camp. So the sequence wasn't "buy 6x Tear, AFK," but rather "buy 6x Tear, troll for a while, AFK."

huh. well even if u do contact riot about it, idk if they would rescind it cuz it is pretty ragey. Much less ragey than the chat logs that got several of my accounts perma banned, but you could always try. I think I've gotten like 3 or 4 perma for chat rage.

I agree it's ragey, but I was being trolled and this was a ranked game. Is that Riot's policy? "You are not allowed to express human emotion, or we will ban you." If that's the policy, please someone from Riot speak up; this is good info that people should know!

It's not like I sat there flaming them with all the lines I see in...Every. Single. Game. "Kill yourself," "Your [sic] trash," "boosted hardstuck bronze" etc.

It is their policy, even if they don't admit it. People can troll, afk, int, troll again, and nothing is done. But if you express emotions, even politely as you have done here, you get banned. Words hurt, actions don't. /s

idk man, it doesnt seem like much but u dont get banned for one offence.... i know ive been perma banned 4 times. they give u plenty of lead way to fix ur mistakes. but if it was ur first offence then just email riot, from what i understand theyre actually pretty fair about things like this.

It's possible that you were punished for calling for reports against others. I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but...

  1. Calling for reports is unnecessary, because it only takes your 1 report of the player to flag that game for the system to review the player. Multiple reports don't stack. And false reports are thrown out. So there's no reason at all to try to get anyone else to help report a player who you feel deserves to be reported.

  2. Calling for reports, if done repeatedly could be considered harassment, and thus can sometimes wind up being punished if you do it repeatedly.

And lastly, if you came off of a 14-day ban and have not regained honor standing yet then you would have been on very thin ice, meaning that any slip up - yes even one as small as calling for reports against trolls - could result in an escalation to the final level of punishment (permaban).

I don't see anything in that, which I would consider ban worthy. Riot has a problem with people asking for reports, though, for some mysterious reason they consider it harrassment. Typical Riot nonsense, ignore trolls who actually ruin the game, punish people oversensitively for words, because that's easier to monitor...

This really isn't a necessary thing to ask nowadays, Riot is just banning people left and right without taking any context into account.

Actually it's a perfectly fair thing to ask. Because some people falsify their chat logs.

That is incorrect. What happened to you was different, as you didn't really do anything punishable (IMO) but were still somehow punished. There are actual reasons that the system could have punished the OP in this case.

I completely disagree on this. Maybe you're new to the boards, but people lie about being "falsely" punished often enough here. It's absolutely necessary to doubt, because those of us who come here a lot are not interested in being made a fool of by someone who tricks us into supporting them just to find out they were a lying scumbag the whole time.

There's another argument you could have used in favor of saying that "asking for proof isn't necessary," but you didn't use it. You used fallacies and generalizations instead, and I won't stand for that.

You've been heard amigo, that's what your own posts were for. Now you're attempting to speak up for others when it's not needed. The OP came to the boards, they made their own post. They are quite clearly capable of speaking for themselves. Now, if ExitForever had said something insulting or demeaning to the OP, I'd be with you. Hell, I'd be on that report button probably faster than you. But simply asking for screenshots is not unreasonable nor insulting in the least.

In case you're interested in knowing why it's actually unnecessary to ask for proof:

The reason is that people can simply upvote the post if the case looks legit, it will gain traction and awareness, and then Riot Tantram or another member of the PB team at Riot will stumble across it and review the case to see if it is valid or not. If the person lied then Tantram and friends can simply say so, and offer to post the unedited chat log. And if the case is valid, then they will ensure that the punishment gets reduced or lifted. The real reason that concrete proof isn't necessary is that Riot can post the counterproof anytime they want so if the OP were being dishonest then they would be humiliated later when their "I'm so innocent" facade got unmasked.

I have done very little if anything that could be punishable in my games, at worst I might receive a chat restriction eventually, but the point stands: Very rarely is anyone wrongfully punished, and when they are it is usually just a matter of harshness as opposed to not deserving of any punishment. And regardless of whether the punishment is undeserved or simply too harsh, Riot usually lifts or reduces the punishments.

Did you have a punishment prior to this? if so, was it a 14 day ban?

EDIT: You appear to have a 2 week gap after your 2/23 game and your 3/10 game... if that 2 week gap was a 14 day temp ban, then your reform card would have told you that your NEXT punishment for whatever infraction you had, would be elevated to a permaban.

There is no question of whether it is worthy of a permaban. The ONLY question is what constitutes an infraction in this chat log.

He's pretty negative and flaming people in the game. Rather than handle the situation constructively, the OP starts typing away and pointing fingers and accusing them of trolling. Rather than try to contain his own tilt, he spreads it to his teammates.

This sounds fairly hostile towards the nunu. I wouldn't be surprised if it actually was expressing anger and trying to passive aggressively call the nunu bad for making what the OP believes is bad gank decisions (or lack thereof).

Also, we don't have a replay so we don't know the actual conditions of the above mentioned gank. It could have been a bad call to begin with and the OP had a difference of opinion, so rather than try to better coordinate ganks, he was combative with his teammates and accusatory.

Calling for reports by themselves isn't going to get a punishment, but if it's accompanied with other negativity, flames, or harassment, it will be bundled in together with the negativity, flames, or harassment.

Additionally, in the picture, the OP emphasizes end game build but fails to mention that up until 23 minutes, the rumble had built normally prior to that and then sold off all the items to build tears at the end of the game. The OP claims the Vel Koz is not doing anything in fights except dancing around calling them trash, yet the damage meters indicate he did almost as much damage as the mid katarina but as a vel koz support. I find the characterizations of the game hard to believe and that the claims of intentional feeding are in there to try and justify why the OP was being so negative and flaming the other players in the game.

I would say this could be worth a 10 game chat restriction. There's also the possibility that there's post game chat that we aren't seeing that may show more text that is negative, flaming, or harassing. But remember that if this is after a 14 day ban, that 10 game chat restriction I think he deserves from the game is getting elevated to a permaban.

I absolutely agree. And even if Rumble had those tears the entire game, that does not indicate trolling. Not that it's a viable build, but he could easily convert them all into archangel's and manamunes, for a ton of hybrid stats.

Nope you arent allowed to be upset because riot is legit a terrible fucking company. There ban system is legit a joke, cater to the special snowflakes and if you troll youre fine no one cares apparently.

Riot Support responded to my ticket and said that, "it would be unfair to your fellow Summoner for us to unban the negativity observed. Especially those who have been exposed to it in game."

Here are the 3 specific parts of the chat log that Riot Support said are perma-ban-worthy:

That's right:

  • If you troll and someone asks you what your problem is, get them perma-banned.

  • If you troll and someone asks what you are doing, get them perma-banned.

  • If you tell the enemy team that your teammates are trolling, and ask them to report their behavior, you can be perma-banned.

Just going to play devils'riots advocate here (this does not mean I agree with their ruling):

  1. If someone trolls you, simply report them after the game, don't ask others to do the same. This is against the rules, and increases tention between teammates.
  2. Looking at the scores and chat in the screenshot, the only two players in that team that broke the rules are Vel'koz and... well... you. In this screenshot I don't see proof of either Nunu or Rumble trolling, and looking at their level I don't believe they went afk in this game. Not to mention, their scores don't imply inting, nor does the chat.
