Refund after perma ban? (Not Me)

Before i start, no i'm not the one that was perma banned nor will i ever.

Ok lets cut to the chase. My close friend was being toxic in game after a 2 week ban and ended up getting perma banned 100% deserved. Afterwards when he told me he said he got a partial refund 800 ($800) and claimed he got a notification saying he got a refund. I really doubt this though and thinking he might be messing with me. Some major variables of his claim include:

-How will they know what account to refund it too? -I've never heard of anyone receiving a refund after a perma banned?

Isn't it it voilating the TOU by being extremely toxic and why would Riot give a refund to a complete jerk who violated their own game rules? So theres alot of questions if hes messing with me or not so, preemptive thank you for the answers!

Edit: Hes canadian i heard like koreans have your credit card of something connected to your accc is that the same with canadians? im not sure.

Most likely he is fucking with you. Unless he is doing charge backs which would be considered fraud most likely in this case.

Our billing system in Canada is no different than US' billing system.

We also don't live in igloos.

He didn't get a refund, though he might of did a chargeback, but he called it a refund.

There should be no perma bans ever for something you have put money into. Take away chat privileges and ranked play only leave open blind and arram, let them stew and hopefully they will calm down and earn their privileges back but never perma ban. also make a game where people can be as toxic as they want some people need to take it out somewhere and when your climbing silver and get 2 games 10 mins in with afks and the team doesnt remake you suffer because there is nothing you can do, and hamstringing people to adhere to a behavior policy when they are crapped on due to something they cant control is just as wrong as being toxic.

I have no idea about Canada, but I know to sign up in Korea they need a social security number. but anyway, he most likely pulled some chargebacks, which is how he got banned (that's a form of fraud btw)

Impossible, it's written in the TOS :

2.2. What happens if my account is terminated? (No LoL for you.)

If your account is terminated, you’ll no longer have access to it, including any of the associated data or content (e.g., champions, skins, Riot Points, etc.).** You’ll not be entitled to any refunds and we’ll have no liability to you.** We also reserve the right to terminate any other accounts you may have created, as well as your access to any other Riot Services (also without any refunds or liability to you).

Lol if you think that those TOS are rock solid, and that RIOT is going to pursue fraud charges against someone..... I got a bridge to sell you.

I'm not saying that they wont pursue their own internal policies (and ban accounts/confiscate RP) but certainly some of these things are in legal grey areas that could potentially get litigated at a huge expense to RIOT. So that being the case, they are unlikely to stir the pot and contact local authorities to try to get a local PD to press charges of fraud on a chargeback.

your friend is entirely entitled to a refund

riot will threaten legal action but will NOT go through with it

they have no legal grounds because all rp "purchases" are actually donations because you never own the Rp or the account based on the TOS

/e don't let riot bully your friend out of his money

the bigger issue is that he spent money on this abomination in the first place

law in united states is that you can revoke any cash donations made via direct account deposit within 30 days

he most likely went to his credit card company to get the refund. my friend did this he got all the money he spent on game with in a 6 month period from when he placed the dispute. ( about 400 dollars). to be clear riot will never give u a refund but what they dont say is that your credit card company is more then willing to dispute charges and get money that u spent recently on the game back.

OP or readers:

Don't Do That ! It's called fraud and you could get yourself in real trouble for it.

Whoever owns the card the charge back is asked for usually just has to pay it back but...why take that chance.

its not fraud if u buy rp and the game takes it from u without u using it. would be the same thing if u bought any other good or service that didn't meet there obligation. let me be clear I'm not saying that people who toxic don't deserve to be banned or money they already spent should be gone. but the practice of riot not letting buy things using actually money and specifically for an exact dollar amount( ie u cant but riot points in amounts that would allow u to buy say one specific skin) . forcing u to convert dollars into rp then revoking said rp is not ok and everyone who does get banned with unspent rp should contact there bank or credit card company about a refund. game companys often have things in there terms of service that wouldn't hold up in a court and definite not against the 13-17 year olds that riot exploits. micro transactions that gaming companies like riot use today are no better then cigarette ads that were geared towards kids in the 80's and 90's. combine that with that ez that it is to get banned from this game by typing in chat and that they hold say a 14 year old kid calling be name sin chat to the same standard they hold college and college grads playing this game u can see how riot whether on purpose or not exploits money form there users.

tldr don't be toxic but if u are contact your credit company cuz riot is money hunger company exploiting children

So you agreed with that when creating an account. They have the right to take them from you because you don't own those RPs it's just like you donated money to riot. It clearly says that you can't get refund for your RP.

I think if we got everyone together that's been permabanned with purchases on their account, we might be able to get a nice little class action going. They shouldn't be able to get away with taking people's money and then destroying what the people bought based on Riot's whim.
