Overly optimistic team. (and rant)

In the past few days, I have had a few matches where I (and my team) was/were not doing so well. This being the case, I try and bide my time and wait for the 20 min mark so I can call for a surrender vote. Now I am not the type of person to surrender if I have a chance of winning, but the matches I am referring to are by definition, lost. Anyways I call a surrender vote 3 people say yes and 2 say no. This upsets me to no end. They say they are having fun, that they enjoy a challenge. Again this (for lack of a better term than "upsets") pisses me off to no end. I end up saying stuff in chat that in hindsight I probably should not have said, but at the time I wanted to say what I thought to be true. This has not gotten me chat banned yet but I have been warned about 5-10 times since I have been playing. Back on topic, in my mind there are 3 people who just want to move onto the next game to have an attempt at winning and having fun like everyone else. I think what I am trying to get at is, if there are 3 people in agreement that we need to surrender, then that should be the way it is. I would also like to say that granted there are times where one (and only one) person is at fault for losing the game, they either feed their lane so much that you team can't keep up or they leave or they just are not good with the champ yet. Which is fine, everyone has bad days, I do and I know I will have more. I have also been one to call people out on it, either in a negative manner or a positive one. But most of the time the reason a team loses is because they did not do well as a team. When you start pointing fingers at people and calling them names and telling them they should uninstall, that puts them even further on tilt. So what I think i am trying to get across here is that think of your team, not just yourself. If you're having a good time that's great, but what if no one else is? Majority rules as they say.

Feel free to give your honest opinion to this.

BTW I was not sure where I should post this so if it is in the wrong area I do apologize.

I don't surrender many games, however I'll gladly start a surrender vote if I've lost the will to play. Usually it's from an enemy constantly BMing in the worst ways when I just want to have a nice, clean match.

I'll throw out the surrender vote, but I'll only do it once. If my team does not want to surrender, be it because they legitimately think we can win or because they want to practice playing while behind, it's their right to vote no. The vote was put out there, and the vote failed.

As a member of their team it is now my job to continue playing my best, at least until one of them changes their mind and starts a vote of their own. I'll probably be on tilt, so I'll pick whoever is doing the best shot calling on the team and follow their word as law to try and take the edge off the bad playing my tilt causes. If they are a particularly constructive team I'll even tell them this.

Thinking of your team is a two way street. Those who want to practice while behind should think of those who no longer want to play that match, but those who want to surrender should think about their allies who want to keep playing. Maybe they are actually doing fairly well, and while the team is losing overall their desire to practice could really help them learn.

These are just the thoughts I try to think of when I'm on the losing side of a surrender vote. Take them as you will.

Here's what I do. I call for a surrender if I feel the game is going way too poorly to come back. If no one takes it, that's it. I keep playing to the best of my ability. You take the good with the bad. Yea, it sucks to play a losing game, but I do everything in my power to pull it back out.

Well I have decided to not play this game anymore. Was fun while it lasted. I just can get over the people that can call getting two shotted by a support "fun".

Last match I had the adc on my team said "it's a game it's supposed to be fun". I can agree with that. Games are meant to be fun. Whether it's a punishing game like Dark Souls, or an easy game like Mario, they are mean for people to have fun playing them. So what happens when you take a team game, put 3 people on it that want to having fun by accomplishing something and 2 people who are there just to have "fun"?You get a very caustic community that will gladly piss people off just so they can get a laugh or two.

Also apparently it's not the correct thing to voice your opinion while in game. you will come across as salty and get reported for saying what is true. People might ask, "why do you need to win to have fun?", and the answer to that is quite simple. I don't need to win to have fun, granted winning makes me feel better and makes me feel accomplished for the effort I put into the match, but I don't need to win. Let me put it this way: You're a lvl 90 in a mmo, you like to pvp, now do you go after other lvl 90s or do you go after the lvl 45s? Do you pvp just to feel superior to others? Or do you pvp because you want to show that the hard work you put into learning your toons skills, learning your rotation, learning your enemy's skills and rotation and being able to win because of that hard work? Preferably I am with the later of the two.

I like a challenge, I like the feeling of it could go either way, and it's up to you and your team to make all the right moves and to work together. What I don't like is going and fighting someone who can't do anything to me or vice versa. I don't know if this community ever had the feeling of teamwork and wanting to get better at the game. (btw I mean that as ALL of the community not some of it) Have I had matches where I genuinely had fun and I was sitting on the edge of my seat and shaking because it was up to me or a teammate to make a play so we could come out on top? Yeah I have had matches like that. Out of the close to 2000 matches I have played I can say with certainty that I have had less than 50 of them, the rest were either complete wins or losses.

So to end, Goodbye league of Legends, it was fun.

Yes I also know that losing me as a player is like losing a penny to Bill Gates.

It's a 5 person game. There have been MANY threads about surrendering. Some want it eliminated entirely. Some want it a simple majority (3-2). Some want it 4-1. So if everyone hates it, it's probably fine as is.

Pretty tough to squeeze your surrender vote in between your nexus exploding and the "Defeat" flair.
