Just out of curiosity, since RIOT is CA based, does this mean that saying "Merry Christmas" can be considered harrassment/hatespeech ?

Just wondering since there is such a huge controversy around it right now. [slayer-pantheon-popcorn]

Luckily enough, the Constitution protects my (and your) right to wish each other a Happy/Merry/Jolly/Lucky/Whatever Christmas/Hanukkah/New Year/Chinese New Year/Kwanzaa/etc.

Given that Riot is a private company, they certainly could kick you off their server for saying that type of thing - but it certainly is not considered hate speech by any law. States, even if California chose to, cannot preempt national/federal laws, rulings, or legal documents such as the Constitution (or amendments thereto).

What the actual fuck ?! seriously ?! There are countless issues in this world that deserve a "controversy". Like malnutrition or anything.

I'm glad i don't look at mainstream medias, you've blown my mind.

Merry whatever everyone ♥

Saying "Merry Christmas" isn't considered harassment or hate speech. Anywhere.

This notion of religious persecution a certain amount of Christians seem to have is absurd. Especially for trivial things like other people saying "Happy Holidays" or Starbucks having red cups instead of xmas trees or whatever else they had on them.

Just because other people go out of their way to say "Happy Holidays" for the sake of including people who celebrate something different, doesn't mean saying "Merry Christmas" is hate speech.

North America is a very diverse country full of people who celebrate a myriad of holidays in a very short period of time. It's insensitive to assume every stranger you meet shares your religious beliefs, but it isn't a crime.
