Please help me understand why i was banned?

I was banned last night after a game, for "Your account has been permanently suspended following the use of scripts, hacks, exploits or unauthorized third-party programs in League of Legends." I have never used any type of programs on my computer beside curse or mumble.. I am in bronze 3 with a match history of struggling games and a few decent ones, with nothing that jumps out say "hey this guy might be cheating". The only report/warning i have ever received was from last season and that was for being toxic... the only thing i have ever done in this game was that could be considered bad was get into a game with a smurf.. can i be banned for playing with someone who is a division higher then what im suppose to be in?

look and match history can you can see for yourself there is no way i could be cheating.. SDX1

Hey SDX1 --

I took a look at the detection and while you may not have specifically cheated, the person you regularly share the account with definitely was. Please note that account sharing isn't allowed as you are ultimately responsible for any actions that happen on the account. Unfortunately we will not be lifting the ban. If you share any other accounts, please protect yourself and change the passwords on them as soon as possible.

i dont "regularly share the account" with anyone? that is impossible.. the only account i share is the one that hasnt got banned? it is impossible for anyone besided myself to have been on this account..

Someone else has your info whether you know it or not. Change the password on your other accounts. Might not be a bad idea to change all of your passwords if you actually had no clue someone else was using your account

I am always curious how you are able to detect when someone is cheating. Is it a case of "Rule one: Never talk about how you detect cheating", or are you able to shed any light on this?

I am not riot but basic knowledge of thiscomes out of "data mining" and "anomaly detection".

The data mining i am talking about is not what moobeat does on s@20, datamining means finding a pattern in data; in this case, the playstyle can emerge upon looking at hundreds of games as well as average performand and other stuff.

That said there is also "anomaly detection", where you take in account border cases that are not normal and see if those coincide with other kind of data, to see if that it just an exception or is an anomaly with some causes behind. This system is used also to detect bank frauds.

For example, let' s say our OP here plays mostly X and Y role and he is meh at Z, and the system detects that sometimes while it plays Z role he acts differently. That alone is not enough, obviously people act differently according to champion, but if the game detecs some odd behavious that pairs up with that, like swapping smite and flash or being from very chatty to almost silent or playing in weird hours then something can emerge.

If thats the case then they should just flag it and have someone actually check it out instead of these autobans that they keep throwing out. This system really has too many flaws. I have seen too many people these past days being banned for 3rd party use, who are innocent.

...hm. hhhhhhhm. let me tell ya, if the system finds 3rd party use then it' s kind of a different deal - they ban only if they are sure about that and that usually involves 3rd party detection, and not only statistics. also, if they decide to ban, i highly doubt there is anyone innocent. remember that 3rd party use is common among elo boosters, and there is kind of a market for that, so is not really that uncommon. Of the many claims i found here, maybe only once it was a false positive. maybe. still not sure about that one.

plus, they manually check if necessary - it' s just that many cases are obvious. you are underestimating the calculating power of a computer, and are overestimating how a human can' t get caught doing that.

Same happened to me yesterday, and there might not be anything riot can do... its so fucking dumb i lost my account after 3 years of playing and spending money on RP. This system is one of the worst i have ever seen, this is the first time a game has banned me because other players got mad and accused me of cheating. Unreal to be honest, I might quit this game because this is just unacceptable.

its riots way of saying we think you did something wrong BUT HAVE 0 PROOF and someone reported you for cheating GL just put in a ticket to support and see if it can be changed but you have pretty much been fucked by riot welcome to the club

you been perma banned by a false report or in this case a Rager got you, let's say there was a toxic guy that hates losing and for some reason you play a game did your best and sadly he gets so pissed off that he or she will do anything for revenge and get you permanently banned.

Sad truth man someone permabanned you not Riot. and they did it for Pure revenge.

Recommendations leave League and play another game that dose not involve crying bastards or people that call themselves pros cause sadly the community is like this Play well like a pro or GTFO from the community sad story but its true and its happening.

It is not daily i'm just here saying what i been seeing for the last 4 years, High Elo bastards and Ragers permanent banning anyone they find trash or don't play the game well.

RIOT has lost CONTROL over them and until a rioter can explain it to me or that they can at least gives us a answer to the situation i will continue telling this to anyone.

Same thing happened to me yesterday... Silver 4 player with pretty nooby match history suspected of cheating... I submit a ticket and ask for some proof and they have none. I even asked if I could prove my innocence but no response yet.

For the record, account sharing is against the TOS and that alone can get your accounts banned.

On one had i have an account that has been banned for not breaking any rules, but the account that i have broken the rules with by sharing hasnt gotten banned? how does this make any sense?

Clearly you haven't been caught yet on the other account. Dumb move talking about it on the boards when a Rioter has already visited your post.

I get bored and browse forums during slow periods of the day. League forums are very poorly structured, cliquish, and full of bad memes, which makes it hard to participate in consequential discussion. But hey, when the occasional person comes by to complain about getting banned for something they clearly shouldn't have been doing, I occasionally chime in.
