/Mute Self

Ever since I was young, I would rage at video games. Single player campaigns, and multiplayer lobbies. I realized it was a bad habit, and it didn't make me feel good, and it didn't improve my game play. Now that I'm older, hardly ever will I vocally rage to my friends, or people I meet and play with online... But I can't seem to stop myself from typing out my rage for very long. I don't see the harm in a /self mute, if you aren't a social butterfly and are here for the victories. And that's not to say I haven't made lasting friendships through league, but when I queue up for a game, i'm not pretending i'm on meet me. I'm here to play and win games.

I've been playing since season 3, and this is the only game I ever play anymore, and I really love it! And I do enjoy meeting new people, but when I get into climbing, it can be so easy for me to get angry with others since their mistakes impact me as well. If I could mute myself, I would. Not because I hate people, but because I simply know that I rage.

When I am on a winning streak I am often positive, reminding others on my team it's about the victory, that's why we play ranked. Try and keep the team together. But after 8-9 losses in a row, my patience wears thin.

If Riot would make a mute self option, for when I'm on those losing streaks, and I feel it's my team to blame (sometimes it is). I do a lot to improve myself, I watch a lot of videos, I understand that I can only control my own actions in a game. I'm not saying I shouldn't be held accountable for what I say, I'm simply asking that I get a tool that helps me keep my mouth shut, without having to stop playing the game I love so much.

I really do love this game, and I enjoy playing it so much. I hate receiving penalties in it, when I know I wouldn't if I could just unplug the darn "enter" button. Does anyone else agree with this?

If you can't control yourself how would a self mute button work? What's to say that when you can't control yourself you won't bother to mute because you're in a rage. Also you won't be getting a reaction out of anyone and no one would see so you'd probably just unmute yourself to tell them off.

2 ways i'd "mute myself"

  1. rebind my key to something random. or let someone rebind my enter and not tell me. dont know how to open chat, cant use chat.
  2. (which i dont think works that well) move chat out of the game so you dont see it anymore. you can still type but at least others cant trigger you.
